Chatting to Max Verstappen this evening, I'm not sure I've ever seen him this confident during testing. He got up to speed quickly, the car - an evolution of last year's car - responded well when he pushed and he clocked up nearly three grands prix distances. Ominous

LFG!!!

Doesn't sound promising from a competitive racing POV

This year will probably be less competitive at the top than last year was.

I disagree.

Last year had worst ever strategy by Ferrari

Merc will be fine they are not going backwards and always improve during year

No way to know fuel loads and testing strategy so its hard to form definative season finishing order this early.

The top 3 makes will be closer this year imo. And if midpack gets better they can play interference with top pack too.

If Ferrari has a more reliable ICE that they can turn up a click or two it will be game on. Then they have to fix the strategic issues that plagued them last season. A big ask, I know.

Max was winning last year no matter what, but the Ferrari reliability/strategy mishaps definitely inflated things.

I think RBR is more concerned about Merc if anything.

Take all testing results and driver speak with a grain of salt

Also take the first few races reliability issue with a grain of salt (teams can improve rapidly)

I think we are going to have a three team race at the top this year, but I’m more interested to see how the middle of the grid shakes out

Can’t wait for next weekend to get here, also DTS comes out tomorrow so we can see how Ferrari gets represented with all the failures from last season

#CantWaitGif

Edit: Hopefully Merc is back regularly because I need more Racey Spice and Toto being bitchy to each other in my life

This site lists all of the eposides and what they are about. Ferrari and their failures appear to get an entire eposide to themselves.

Herr Helmut talking again:

quote:

Helmut Marko thoughts post Day 1 of Bahrain pre-season testing:

"I think this is Red Bull Racing's best ever test day. We are in a much better position than a year ago. So an excellent starting point."

quote:

"Every lap we are achieving some improvements, so far we are really happy and indeed we are more competitive than we were last year to start off."

I'm ok with that, plenty of action in midfield to watch.

Haas has a smaller pit wall this year that apparently saves them $250K/year in shipping costs.
