OK we're in the 2nd half of the season with Race 10 at Toronto today at 3:00 PM ET. While most of the races this year are on NBC, this race unfortunately will only be seen by those who have Peacock Premium.
I believe it has something to do with this being the only race outside of the US.
Since the last race at Mid-Ohio there have been two significant developments:
First, major AJ Foyt sponsor ROKiT has fallen way behind in payments to Foyt, and as a result, the #11 car driven by Tatiana Calderón will not be on the grid this weekend, and the future is up in the air. F1 fans may remember that a couple of years ago Williams F1 won a $35M judgment in arbitration against ROKiT for the exact same behavior: The Williams Formula 1 team has won $35.7 million in arbitration after former title sponsor ROKiT backed out of two multi-year sponsorship deals. ROKiT is a shady California company that seems maybe a little more legit than Rich Energy.
But the really big news is that last Tuesday, the following series of events took place:
1. Chip Ganassi issued a press release that they have exercised their option to have defending IndyCar champion Alex Palou drive for the CGRT IndyCar team in 2023.
2. A few minutes later, Palou tweeted that he didn't not authorize that release and he did not make the quote attributed to him in the press release!
3. A few minutes after that, McLaren F1 issued a press release announcing the Palou will be racing for McLaren Racing next year, and will also be testing the 2021 McLaren F1 car. However, the press release did not specify where Palou would be racing. I believe the assumption is that they plan to race him in IndyCar.
4. Ganassi later reiterated that they have Palou under contract for next year. I believe what he is saying is that if Palou plans to drive in IndyCar next year, it will be for Ganassi.
I don't think there have been any further developments since then, but for this weekend everyone says that it's business as usual.

We had to go all the way to Race 10 for Colton Herta to become the first driver to get a 2nd pole position this year!
David Malukas struggled early in the year but over the last few races he has emerged as a contender for Rookie of the Year. He starts P5, his best starting position so far.
I have bolded the top 7 championship contenders. Will Power and Alex Palou are starting way back there.

Is this only on peacock or will it be on the NBC sports app as well?

Only on peacock.
Looked like Palou shoved it in there causing Pato to get into Sato.

Rosenqvist twitches when he hits the gas, punts Rossi into the wall.
That curved pit lane is ridiculous.

Scott Dixon wins! He ties Mario Andretti with 52 IndyCar wins, 2nd on the all-time list to AJ Foyt's 67 wins.
Herta P2, Rosenqvist P3.

First race I didn't watch in probably a few years. I know Peacock is cheap, but I already have so many streaming things; had to draw the line somewhere. Otherwise, you go broke $5 or $9.99 at a time.
Also, I prefer to DVR the race and watch it with the benefit of FFW for commercials and long yellows. Oh, well, it'll likely all be on the 'Cock in a couple of years.

This weekend is a doubleheader at Iowa Speedway.
Race 1 Saturday July 23 at 4:00 PM ET on NBC
Race 2 Sunday July 24 at 3:00 PM ET on NBC
Weather forecast: 98° on Saturday, 84° on Sunday.
A short oval for IndyCar is typically 1 mile, but Iowa Speedway is just 0.875 miles around and race laptimes on fresh tires will be around 19 seconds. Short ovals can create wild changes in running order because a pit stop puts you a lap down, so drivers that save fuel and pit later may benefit tremendously from a full-course yellow that comes during a pit window. The drivers that pit during the FCY will remain at the front of the field.
Saturday morning (10:30 AM ET) qualifying for this doubleheader will utilize the funnest gimmicky qualifying procedure I've ever seen. This same procedure has been used twice before for previous oval doubleheader weekends at Iowa and Gateway, both during the 2020 season.
Each driver will go out and run two consecutive hot laps. The first lap time will be used to set Saturday's grid and the second lap time will be used to set Sunday's grid.
I think most drivers set a faster time on the first lap, and then a slower time on the second lap because of tire wear. But some drivers either make a mistake or are tentative on their first lap and actually improve their time on the second lap. At the previous events mentioned above, the two races at each event had two different pole winners.

Newgarden wins! Newgarden and Power dominated most of the day, but Pato came on strong to be Newgarden's only challenger at the end. Chevy finishes in the top 4 positions. There were two lanes and plenty of passing so it was a good race with not too many yellows. Newgarden is the new Dixon, just relentlessly competitive. He moved two places up in the championship and is now just 15 points behind championship leader Ericsson.
P1 Newgarden
P2 O'Ward
P3 Power
P4 VeeKay
P5 Dixon
Today's race was 250 laps with three pit stops needed for fuel, but they did a fourth pit stop for tires. Not sure but maybe the 99° ambient temperature led to them needing the fourth pit stop.
Tomorrow's race will be 300 laps and lower temps, I think it will be an even better race.

Jimmie Johnson was the guy to watch today. Spun early, stayed on the lead lap, and passed on the outside where few feared to put a wheel.
Marco Andretti won the season championship tonight for the Tony Stewart series. Chase Elliot won the race. It was nice to see Marco get a win of any kind.

Power and Newgarden are preserving their tires better than everyone else. They are totally checking out if there's no yellow to bunch them up again. They're lapping everyone. Only 12 guys on the lead lap already.

Wow, Power and Newgarden pit at the same time, and they bump wheels on the exit. Newgarden really wanted to out-accelerate Power getting back on track. Power was not having it.

Kyle Kirkwood crashes. Good timing for a full-course yellow. The cars a lap down are now back on the lead lap. Power and Newgarden were checking out, and it's not even the halfway point in the race yet. We're back to 16 cars on the lead lap.

WOW. Rear suspension failure sends race leader Newgarden into the wall. Devastating for his championship. He would have taken over the lead in the championship, but now I think he's going to drop back.
Interesting part of the race, I'm not sure if everyone is going to pit for tires?
