why would grass be bad for his foot? I would think a hard surface would be bad?

Rafa is dialed in; going to be a long day for young Casper.

I expected the quick break by Nadal, did not expect the quick break back by Ruud. Obviously helped by Nadal.

Movement is harder on grass. Ball bounces lower. Nadal has commented in the past how it is hard on his knees. I would assume with a bad foot it will be even tougher.

Yeah, the court is soft, but the movement is weird because you slip a lot and have to move kind of gently.

With Medvedev, Zverev, and Rublev not playing, plus Federer out of the picture, it will certainly be very enticing for Nadal to play. Wimbledon would likely seed him #2, meaning he'd avoid Djokovic's side of the draw too.

Lots of reasons for him to want to play, but I think the one big reason not to play will trump those.

Should be a stroll for Djokovic. Great opportunity for somebody like Tsitsipas or Shapovalov to win one.

First set to Rafa.

Berrettini is playing Stuttgart next week, so we will see if he can be in decent form for Wimbledon. If he's healthy he will be a factor with that big serve and also shorter rallies will mean opponents can't pepper his awful backhand as much.

You remember how good Djoker - Nadal is when you just watch Rafa toy with these young guys in Clay. They just haven’t seen his endless bag of tricks.

Read that ATP is pulling all of its ranking points out of Wimbledon so it’ll essentially be a big exhibition. Granted you still win Wimbledon if you win. But it’s a big move. Has to do with Wimbledon banning all Russian players

Nadal's level has dipped in this set, much like it did in the 2nd set against Zverev. Making more errors and doesn't seem quit as physical.

Nadal took control of that 2nd set very quickly.

He will serve to open the 3rd.

That didn’t age well lol. Talk about a momentum change. That was Ruud’s chance and it passed. This match is already over after that 2nd set

Drives me crazy how they don’t show replays. They’ll scan the crowd for some random Frenchman instead of showing a great point.

I thought he might be able to turn it into a battle of physicality and take out Rafa's legs. Nope. He just doesn't have enough weapons.

This is pretty shite tennis, to be honest, and that’s coming from a huge Rafa fan.
