This motherfricker right here. His will to win is unbelievable. I don’t know anything about who he may have to face in the semis or final, should he get there. But this is unbelievable.

At least this one will actually count versus the Australian where they banned novak. Hurts for novak to blow the fourth set there. He probably had the endurance advantage in the 5th.

Yep. IMO, he's unbeatable when he's on. If you gave me Fed, Rafa, and Djoko at peak playing their best match I'd take Djoko every time. But unfortunately, Djoko is a mental midget too often. And of course Rafa on this surface!

I agree Djoke can take his game to a level nobody can match.

Mental midget is a little harsh methinks, but he's certainly not as mentally solid as Rafa.

One thing I love so much about the French is that getting broken doesn’t take you out of sets like it may against hard-servers on the harder surfaces.

I agree.

But maybe somebody could correct me, Wimbledon doesn’t play as fast as it used to, right. Seemed like in the 90s, if you broke somebody’s serve, you’d have to shite the bed to not win the set. Which did make for a lot of high pressured deuce and AD point.

They changed up the grass composition in 2002 to avoid pure servebotennis. But grass is still grass. It still plays very different than any other surface. And it's still hard to break serve against a good server...unless you're Djokovic or Agassi.

That was a great match.. they seem to always put on a great show when face off. But now I wonder what happens with Wimbledon. All fed Novak and Rafa have to is threaten to sit it out if they don’t let the Russians play. I’d say Wimbledon would change their mind in a heartbeat.

Don't even get me started on Wimby. We'll have plenty of time to discuss that silliness.

Mental midget

A touch harsh for a guy that has won 20 majors and every major at least twice.

I’d hate to hear your assessment of Andy Murray.

Good match. Rafael is so mentally tough. Amazing that he may be on the way to #14 at the French Open!

frick that.

If I’m essentially tied with my two biggest rivals (that I have been battling against for 15+ years) for GOAT status in the twilight of our careers I’m not sitting out the most prestigious tournament of the year for anyone’s cause. I might support their inclusion publicly, but either way I’m lacing up my tennis shoes.

They may “threaten” to sit out, but I can’t imagine one of the Big 3 actually doing it for that reason.

1. Rafa won't do it because he is too selfish (I don't have a problem with it, it's just the way he is.
2. Novak won't do it because nobody did it for him in Australia

Rafa just might not play Wimbledon period - nothing to do with any kind of protest.

He’s halfway to the calendar slam. He’s playing Wimbledon.

Cilic/Rublev about to kick off.

Cilic was only a slight underdog.

Her court coverage is unreal. She has a great shot on Saturday.

Take this with a grain of salt, but it certainly wouldn't shock me if some of this is true. I would bet Nadal won't be playing Wimbledon, but that's just my opinion.

I also found this article today of Rafa saying he hopes he is able to return, and that he doesn't want people thinking this French Open is some sort of retirement tour. LINK

I saw those reporter's comments yesterday as well. Apparently he's pretty close with the Nadal camp, but I don't know how accurate that report is. Nadal did say in his last press conference that with his doctor with him at Roland Garros, his foot won't be a problem for the rest of the tournament; but he can potentially have serious foot problems after the tournament is over. They just don't know how serious yet. I don't think he plays Wimbledon either.
