G pulling out of the Tour.
Waiting for someone to tell us Thomas crashed on purpose so he wouldn't have to work for Carapaz.

Is that official? I haven't seen it anywhere.

some crazy crashes in this race wow.
Pog is in really good shape, with Rog losing time today.
edit: Rog down 1 min on Pog. There are some other contenders of course but it was between Rog and Pog in my mind like last year.

I’ve disliked Carapaz since Movistar’s Netflix documentary, egotistic arse. If Thomas is really out, feel for the guy.. second year in a row pulling out of Grand Tours from crashes

I am not extremely familiar with the history of this event but does it seem like there is much more crashes/carnage than usual?
as mentioned before lots more crashes to start, which sucks. But some big name crashes is what makes this suck even more. Ewen, Thomas, Roglic all in the same day. Wow
Hopefully someone else will contend but this looks like Pogacar's race to lose at this point.

You thought Carapaz looked bad in that situation? I came away with the completely opposite impression. Movistar was a complete shitshow

I mean signing another contract before the season even began supposedly and blindsiding a team??? That’s kinda shitty
I will not disagree Movistar is still disorganized

I’ve been glued to Le Tour and this thread way before I started this year and last year’s iteration. But I feel like Movistar has been a train wreck for years now. They got a podium finish and have some strong riders and occasional favorites but damn…

I’m 23 but can remember watching since Lance’s last two Tours, no Spanish team has been a threat in that span. It’s been sad, Contador was on an American team then Kazakh so can’t say him and Sastré or whatever was on CCC.
Seems Movistar and whatever it was before it has always been this way. The documentary exposed that greatly

Howdy been missin ya in this thread!
Do you have a source for GT abandoning yet?
Can’t find anything and my sources say he’s still in.
Can’t think of a boring at first then pure mayhem last 50KM Tour than this year in the first 3 stages other than this year so far.
Nuts.

The riders as a collective union just stopped all together at the depart as a protest and will begin again when they feel like it due to yesterday’s safety concerns.
Haven’t seen this before

"The riders wish to stress their respect for their sponsors, their sports groups, the organizer, their international institution. Supporters are very important to them – and this is why they will be riding today.
"In return, the riders of the Tour de France ask for the same respect – respect for their safety.
"For this reason, they are asking the UCI to setup discussions with all race stakeholders to adapt the 3-kilometre rule during stage races. This could avoid circumstances such as those which occurred in yesterday's stage.

Van Moer, 150M to go. Soul crushing.

I was pulling for the guy, but could see it coming. Happy for Cav though...Tomorrow will be interesting. Guess we'll see if Rog is still up to this with his road rash. What will Mathieu van der Poel do tomorrow? Don't think he has much if any history in TT's.
