Stage 14 and 17 look like fun stages, but the Queen stage seems to be 18.
Start with a cat 1 54km in and its a 9.9km climb at an average of 8.6% with a 16% section.
Next at 94km is another cat 1 7.9km long at 8.6% again with a 14% portion.
The relief is a cat 2 at 141km that has a average grade of 3.8% but is 12.2 km.
Then the fireworks will kick off on the final climb to the line, 14.6km at an average of 9.8%
Reading the gradient on the Alto d'El Gamoniteiru makes my legs ache already, I feel for the pros that actually have to ride it.
Only wish was to include the Angliru in every edition of the Vuelta as it is maybe the hardest climb in the world.

I got Primoz. Too much TTing for Bernal go overcome that and plus apparently his back is still bothering him

We are off and running (err riding) in a few hours.
First up is the prologue a very short (7.1k) technical ITT.

Standings and Stage 2 Preview in OP Post #2

3 'Mericans in the top 13.
I kinda hate to say it but given Rog put between 25 and 39 seconds on Bernal, Carapaz, and Landa in only 4.25 freaking miles it may be Rog's to lose already. It isn't like he can't climb.
I get the feeling he can just mark the other GC contenders for 18 stages then drop another 1:30 to 2:00 on them on the last stage.

The short ITT today threw me through a loop. I follow a lot of the guys on Strava.
Sub 10 minute rides for them was not what I was expecting . First detailed foray for the Vuelta. It’s not the TDF but it’s pretty damn big and the last big race of the year for these riders/teams. Will update with all the jersey results mañana.

Last big stage race. We still got Paris Roubaix, worlds, and Lombardia

I really enjoy the Vuelta’s production so much better than the Giro, TdF, or the Dauphine
I think the Vuelta is the 2nd of those 4 most fun to watch as the Giro is the funnest just because of the random blizzards. The Dauphine and TdF get redundant usually because of Ligget who I love as a commentator, but times up for him I believe
I love the Paris-Roubaix classic just because of the cobbles also. Flanders, TDU, and the one in Doha are unwatchable. The Tour of California was always fun also. Just because teams would let the young guns go.
The US needs a new tour to takeover for Missouri or California. I’d think you could set up something in the Badlands to Tulsa and have a hell of a tour

Vuelta is also the only way you’ll see Cofidis at the finish line when it matters. Since they always sponsor the line

Would LOVE to see Kuss take the Polka Dot Jersey home in 3 weeks. Been following his training the last few weeks. He's awesome. We'll see what he has tomorrow in the first big mountains stage.

Roglic already out of Red. Crazy Mountain stage. Carapaz looked like arse at the end and crack already on day 3.
We fell to the second page again booo.

I think Jumbo will be happy for Intermarche to control the field until Friday.
Movistar had Mas, Lopez and Valverde all in the "GC" group of 9 at the end of the climb...

Seeing Sepp dropped so earlier was shocking, Carapaz may be hurting since all the flying

Taaramae was lucky his spill didn't happen a k or two earlier.
Great to see Jakobsen get the stage win. The depth he returned from is impressive.

If I was Taaramae I would be secretly glad to be out of that damn red jersey, his is apparently lined with asphalt magnets.
Tomorrow we get a SCARY "mountain stage" with half of it downhill and only a Cat 3 at the line. The climb is sub 2k but steep (over 9%) but you have to have balls to call it a mountain stage. The Tour speaking to the Giro "look at little bro over there
