I am continuing to listen to the podcast with Ty Norris today. Despite some of the negative things they had to say about Teresa, Dale Jr. and Ty Norris also both acknowledged the bad position Teresa was put in. She didn't ask to be the owner and person responsible for DEI, it was all thrust onto her suddenly. Dale Jr. also mentioned that so much of her time early on in the time after Dale Sr.'s death was spent having to fight the release of the autopsy photos. She also had to try to manage Dale's other assets (car dealership, homes, yacht's, other property, etc.).

So you don’t get insurance or do estate planning until you know what’s going to happen?
C’mon.
Somebody with wealth has no excuse to be so ignorant.

Most people do not like to think about dying,
Call my crazy but it and taxes are the only two guarantees in life.

This is something that always puzzled me. I can understand not wanting the photos to be public but I’ve heard it said that “she spent so much of her time fighting to keep the photos from being public.” Sure seems like she could have had some time to work on the legacy of the business.

I wish NASCAR would go back to not running the carousel at Sonoma. It took away one of the only decent passing zones there.

It is funny how everyone sides with Dale Jr but we have never heard the other 2 sides of the story (Teresa's and the real truth) We have heard bits in court and the court sided with Teresa.
There's a long list of people in the know that side with Dale Jr, I haven't heard one person side with Teresa. Richard Childress has been neutral and that's because he was caught in the middle.
People on Jr's side:
Kelly
Kerry (had a lawsuit in addition to Jr's lawsuit)
Ty Norris
Tony Eury Sr (worked for Jr after DEI)
Tony Eury Jr (Worked for Jr after DEI)
Danny Earnhardt (worked for Jr after DEI)
Kevin Harvick
You don't hear Teresa's side because she doesn't want anybody to hear it. It's the classic wicked stepmother story, Jr and Kelly didn't like her. Besides, who's more qualified to run the team, Teresa or a race car driver. Yes, Jr wasn't ready at the time but Ty pretty much said he could handle things until Jr got up to speed.

I figured this thread would be busier, since this is the Save Mart 350...

Dale's death really had so much of an effect on NASCAR. I can't imagine what DEI would have been if he had not died.
Eventually they would have been the equivalent of Hendrick once they got rid of drivers like Waltrip and Park. No offense to them personally, I like both guys, but they weren't top tier drivers.

That, and Kelley would of helped Ty run the ship until Junior was ready. She runs Jr.Motorsports now.

Not saying she isn’t everything people are saying about her. But obviously she had some legal grounds that Sr. should have taken care of in advance.
A son shouldn't have to sue his stepmother for the right to his name. One was inherited by blood, the other by marriage. But this what happens when you have divorces, stepmothers, and unexpected deaths.

You won't find siblings much closer than those 2. Thick as thieves.

Actually they ending up ruling a surname can’t be trademarked by anyone so there is the Earnhardt collection. Hell I could go start and Earnhardt collection if I wanted too.
And that shouldn't have even mattered in the lawsuit, one is blood, one isn't, it shouldn't even come down to a surname ruling

I do not care but to say she does not have a side is inaccurate or only one side.
Quit being a fricking contrarian like you always do, you're literally the only person making a case for her. To think a son can't go make money off his name because a fricking stepmother says so is as bullshite as it gets.

Takes her side in what?
She owned the team. Dale did this to everyone by “willing” it to her.
She may be horrible, bitchy, and a terrible business person but it was hers to frick up.
That’s on Sr.
You have an inability here to consider that you could be anything but right. Which, in its self is moronic
What part of that ruling says a person can't profit from their name?
What part of it says Teresa didn't destroy DEI?
That's the only contested points here

Larson is super quick.

I said the same thing to him and Tigertown. I think they are being contrarians just for the hell of it, but there is no other side in this. Teresa is the bad guy, D
Junior/Kelley and everyone else are in the right. It was her that destroyed DEI, her and her alone. End of discussion.

I can see a point where they hire Ty and Kelley turns over some responsibility

And strictly manages Junior's assets. I could see that. She has basically been his manager for 25 years.
