What would be the argument for or against Jimmie at the top?
I’d say NASCAR is more competitive now than it was in the DE era. Less chance to modify cars to gain advantage.
Or are we just talking driving ability?

I feel the top 5 in no particular order:
Petty
Dale Sr.
Gordon
Pearson
Johnson
Each have their own unique arguments. And each have a case to be the GOAT.

I didn't get to come in last night for the qualifying, but I just want to say... frick BUBBA.
When he got knocked out buy Byron and then Bowman...
He's a moderately talented driver who has money and power behind him to try to prop him up.

Kenseth was a very good driver. Top 10 driver since 2000? Probably. But I agree, he is not a Top 10 all-time NASCAR driver.
Dale Earnhardt
Richard Petty
Jeff Gordon
David Pearson
Jimmie Johnson
Cale Yarborough
Bobby Allison
Darrell Waltrip
Bill Elliott
Rusty Wallace
Kyle Busch
My top-10:
1(tie):Pearson/Dale Sr.
3.Gordon
4.DW
5.Richard
6.Cale
7.Jimmie
8.Bobby Allison
9.Smoke
10:Rusty
Bill Elliott and KyBu18 just missed the top-10.

Any list without Pearson top 2 is invalid.
FIXED.
If dude had run a full schedule for just have of his career, he'd half close to 300 wins and 8-10 titles. He WAS THAT DAMN GOOD! The 3 years he ran a full schedule, he won the title. That's all that needs to be said.

I think in Duel 1 I’m going with Ricky Stenhouse and duel 2 I’m going with Keselowski.

Any of you baws a fan of the charter system? I hate thinking cars like the 33/16 who are fast will miss the race for shitboxes like Rick Ware and Starcom. Why are they still allowed to have a charter when they’re regularly 15 mph off the pace?
Fastest cars should start the race, charter or not.

We are talking about best NASCAR driver ever. I think we are leaving 2 guys off the list
Foyt
Andretti
If they would’ve run full time they’d be considered GOAT. Foyt in my opinion is GOAT driver America has produced. But Andretti is a close 2nd. I am not a fan of either but acknowledge their ability and greatness

Agree, but as NASCAR drivers alone, you can't call them top ten. Foyt won sic NASCAR events, Andretti won Daytona, and what else?
Posted on 2/11/21 at 1:25 pm to sms151t
Foyt is maybe the greatest race car driver of all time, never mind greatest American driver

Twenty years ago, the world of racing lost one of its biggest stars when Dale Earnhardt died during a crash on the last lap of the Daytona 500. In a new special, ESPN’s E60 will take viewers back to that fateful day to explore the legacy of Dale Earnhardt and the effect his loss has had on the sport of NASCAR, including safety improvements to cars and racetracks
E60 Presents – Intimidator: The Lasting Legacy of Dale Earnhardt will debut on Sunday, Feb. 14, at noon ET on ESPN, just hours before the 2021 Daytona 500 gets underway at Daytona International Speedway.
ESPN senior writer Ryan McGee, who has covered NASCAR for more than 25 years, is the reporter for the story.
In the program, McGee has a revealing interview with Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and the retired NASCAR star speaks openly about his father, what he remembers about that day 20 years ago, and how safety in the sport has evolved.

My only knock on Foyt is
-never did F1, even back when drivers would do one offs. Would’ve loved to have seen how Foyt made out with a competitive car at a US GP at Watkins Glenn
-raced against some garbage competitors in USAC for a while after the first US open wheel split that formed CART.

Qualifying needs to go back to that. The guaranteed entries suck.

About to go green for Duel 1

Timmy Hill needs the others to wreck out to have a chance. His car will blow its motor if he can stay in the draft.
ETA: and of course the first in car interview is with none other than king cheesedick himself, Joey Logano.
