Swiatek hasn't lost more than five games in a match. That will obviously not be the case today. But, she stomped Halep, who was the heavy favorite. The ball is like a slingshot off of her racquet at times.

Game, set, match. She made Kenin tap out, which is very difficult.

All the bitching and moaning about the balls Nadal did, and he made to the final without dropping a set

If Simona Halep didn't get a breast reduction, she'd have easily gotten a Grand Slam by now (The Tennis definition, not what I'd do if I actually met the lass for a fortnight).

Her play got better after she lopped off her puppies.

Have a Future on Novak at +300 but I'm considering a hedge.
The line I see right now for TGGRN is -145

I was seeing like -138 to -150 most of yesterday. I am on TGGRN $450 to win $300. If I lose on the guy who is 99-2 at this tournament, well, it's time to take a break for a while.

Drop shots are for the ghays.

Should be illegal outside of women's tennis.

Novak has gone to it three times already in the opening game. Nole looked like he was in control of this game, but gets broken.

I don’t know how anyone can want to watch this match. It’s painful to me

When I had teammates that would get into matches like this, I wanted to gouge my eyeballs out

I don't blame you. I said a page or two ago I don't have the patience to watch this all day. Novak played two good opening games and is down 3-0. At least Rafa will erase my football losses. His game has such a high margin of error with that spin that he is inherently playing high percentage tennis all the time. That is the difference between these two. Novak can overcome it on a hard court. But, it's difficult here. Carillo did say that Rafa's shots are bouncing three inches lower than normal with the cool, damp conditions. I'm not sure I believe that, but it's sad if nobody can stay competitive in these conditions with balls Rafa doesn't like.

I know I sound like a grumpy old man, but they need to dial back the strings again in tennis

What Agassi could do in his era from the baseline was magical. With the equipment now you can’t attack anyone anymore

You are preaching to the choir and I said that in the non gs tennis thread. Agassi said you almost never really have anyone on a string anymore where you are in total control of the point. Guys can hit winners in defensive positions that they never could. As an article on poly strings said, they game has gone from linear to parabolic.

Djokovic has played pretty well and is down 4-0. I am tuning out for now.

I lives through the transition. Early 2000s at Kalamazoo we still had most of the top guys playing attacking style head north tennis

By the end of my college career we had all changed to banger and looser tension, and even if you had a guy in the ropes, coming to the net was a losing proposition.

Well...that was a quick set.

Damn! Nadal is so fricking good in clay.
