I wonder if Hendrick (particularly if they have a good year this year) would make a push at getting Kyle Larson for the 48 car? Would probably be a more consistently competitive ride for Larson.

That rumor just doesn't make any sense to me - why jump from the 2 to the 48? The 2 is constantly running top 10's since his butt got in the seat, he won a championship in that car - something Rusty never did, and he's got one of the best team owners in all of sports behind him. Why jump to the 48 when he'll be known as the guy who replaced a 7 timer? He's getting top of the heap pay, he's launched his own business, what does the 48 offer that he doesn't have now? Last time the 88 came up it was rumored to be Keselowski's spot, but he just used it as leverage for another contract with Penske.
In my opinion Hendrick will do like he did with the 24 and 88 - find someone young with potential, either Jr. Motorsports with a guy like Gragson or a cup guy like Corey Lajoie. I think it's pretty set that Kyle Larson will be going to the 14 after this year to drive for Smoke in Nascar and the dirt cars, so I don't see him going to the 48.

I don’t think there is one at JR Motorsports that they’d call up yet.
