I've never seen Torkelson but he must be amazing if a RH 1B is going 1/1

Maybe I’m old school but I still hate the idea of taking a 1B first overall. I would be all over Austin Martin if I were the Tigers

i just think torkelsons hitting profile is too good to pass up even if the position hamstrings him

As others have written about the Tigers have a ton of young pitching on the way ay up but lack the hitters. So a hotter makes sense, especially one who seems to fast track to the majors

I somewhat wished teams could trade draft picks. I think you’d get some great deadline and draft day trades. Especially if you’re knowing the guy you want will be there later in the round.

Think if the say Braves needed a Pitcher for stretch and had a Sandwich round and first, they could make a deal get the pitcher for prospects and a Sandwich pick. But you would only be allowed to trade away your first 5 rounds.

I couldn't see teams doing that knowing how valuable picks are now considering the control you obtain.
I'm hoping with the new CBA they reform team control and allow the younger players to hit FA earlier.

Are picks more valuable than a title? I think you’d see teams absolutely trade away picks for an elite player if possible. You take the guaranteed player or the possible?

Teams trade comp balance picks for players now. If all of them were suddenly available to deal you think they wouldn’t?

What team is going to give away an elite player for a draft pick? Especially since it isn't the NFL/NBA where the prospect can have an immediate impact.

Now maybe a draft pick + multiple prospects for a elite player kinda like they do with international money now.

Which is it? You just said teams wouldn’t trade a high pick for a player now the opposite won’t happen? He never said an elite player either. Brewers traded a balance pick for Omar Narvaez this winter

He did say an elite player,

The Brewers also gave up Adam Hill so it wasn't a straight trade for a pick.

I should clarify, I don't think teams would be willing to trade established MLB players for draft picks. So trading picks wouldn't be as exciting as I doubt people would do it with any top 10 picks nor would it be exciting.

They traded one for Alex Claudio the year before, at least one of them gets traded basically every year since they allowed it. I think three were traded last year. Of course if all picks were open to be traded teams would deal them

You would see plenty of teams trading back as well just like in other sports
