Sky is dirty and Froome will win (if he doesn't withdraw).

Something interesting about one of the Pyrenees stages though, an entire section of road on the downhill section of the last climb of the tour washed out. My guess is that it will simply become a mountain top finish. That changes the dynamics imho as some gaps could open up then.

Haven't kept up with it lately, but what's the news on his Salbutamol case?

He has appealed the decision. His lawyers fired off an 800+ page appeal that suggests the dosage was fine based on a study conducted on DOGS.

My take, he "gets sick" and withdraws from the tour. He is then deemed to be innocent. He will"get well" and race in the Vuelta (with Sky under close scrutiny).
Just my .02.

Didn't WADA just release a report saying cortisone and tramadol are rampant in the peloton again? Yet all this focus on Froome. It seems cycling can never escape drama.

he absolutely collapsed in the Giro. I'm not sure I've ever seen a rider be so dominant for half a tour and then totally lose his form.

You are thinking of his twin brother Simon who did the giro
This is Adam
Simon is resting and doing Vuelta after doing the giro

I hadn't heard about this wash out. Is this the descent of Col d'Aubisque into Laruns?

I'll be pulling for anyone but Froome.

Hoping Porte can have a good showing after what happened last year.. Thought I witnessed someone die when he crashed

who the frick cares about cortisone and tramadol?? WADA is worse than the NCAA with the selective enforcement of some pretty stupid rules.

Stage 9 has 21.7 km of cobblestone streets

I get it, they raced on cobblestone streets on all steel frames back in the day, just seems out of place today.

Yes they did, but it was only in reference to comparison to other endurance sports. In short, falling off of a bike at 40 mph and being sore from swimming or running aren't exactly the same thing.

Yes, that's the one. It truly is a total washout. They are looking into alternate descents or reconstructing the road. From what I can understand, the potential alternative route downhill would be some sketchy shite for the riders. That's why I'm thinking it will turn into a mountain top finish.

Thanks. This should have always been a mtf.
Edit: Do they have room on the top and haven’t they finished on the top before?

Yeah, I think Armstrong even commented about this and said something along the lines of 'doesn't WADA have better shite to worry about?'

They still race on cobblestone several times in the spring classics and it's some of the most popular sections with the fans.

I'd really like to see Richie take it away from Froome this year.

I think of all the competitors Porte has the best chance of beating Froome. BMC is really strong in the TTT and if they and Sky put 1 minute or so on everyone else on stage 3 then we may see Porte and Froome marking each other for the rest of the race with Quintana and Nibali trying to escape on the mountain stages. It may come down to a Porte/Froome ITT battle at that stage.

Movistar will have an interesting decision to make mid way through the mountains if their 3 stars are all still there.

Are they assuming Quintana is their true shot to win?
