TBH, I thought the 43 hit him harder than he should've.

Kinda wonderd about that when I saw it in real time.

"Just wanted to rattle his cage."

Yeah, by taking a running start.

But did he do it on the biggest stage to win the biggest race?

OK, we're gettin on hallowed ground, here but...

In his last race, he was blocking so his cars could win.

Point being that blocking (as you know) may not work out in your favor.

Not saying I wouldn't do it, but the fella you're blocking may not be inclined to check up, get out of line, or go around.

Yeah, if Senior had been going for the win in 2001 he probably survives the race.

DE was my favorite driver. Still like him the best. Part of me has always questioned if the seatbelt actually broke, or if he had unlatched it early for comfort or whatever.

Bill Simpson testified that he told Earnhardt his seat belts were improperly installed.

Mine as well ( after Richard retired).

Was never really answered, but the general thinking is that they broke. I know Bill Simpson left the company he founded, largely b/c of that whole deal.

He chose not to use a Hanhs (sp) device which would have saved his life

This, as well. He also refused to wear a full-face helmet.

NASCAR funded a $2M study after the accident with real accident reconstruction engineers. Given the belt deal and how he moved in the car, I'm not sure the Hahn's device would've have saved him, and they were not as common then as they are now. It's a great study and has led to many safety changes you see today. Thank you, Dale. RIP.

Also, since I've started replying to you, I'm getting ads for luxury condos next to Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Love this tweet from Jeff Gluck:

Bubba's mom just interrupted press conference, ran up on stage in tears: "I'm so proud of you, baby! You waited so long, baby!"

They had a long hug. Then Bubba started crying. "God dang it, Mom!"

Man, I'm happy for him and RPM.

Smithfield really kind dicked RPM and it got kinda ugly. I'm glad RPM got that engine deal with RCR.

To be fair, he looked like a major badass with his helmet and goggles. Which he was.

The real reason he didn’t wear a full was that he said it impaired his vision too much.

Kinda surprised you guys haven't paid some attention to this story angle.

I was good with the results until the first post-race Dillon interview on the track right after he won. To me, the interviewer sure seemed eager to force-feed Dillon a lead to bring up something about a lucky penny, to which Dillon stumbled through a lame answer.

Seemed just a little too setup / pre-planned.

Very proud to see Bubba run well. He's earned where he is. The kid has genuine talent. Ford fricked up letting him get away.

Hell, I just ordered a Bubba Wallace T-shirt.

My driver was Jeff Burton, amd I haven’t given a shite about many of them since he retired.

But young Wallace and Blaney have my attention. They seem like really good guys.

I'm gonna get downvoted into oblivion but I didn't mind was Dillon did

I'm no fan of his and would have rather Aric won but these things happen way faster than we can really comprehend. It's the last lap of what as of today is the biggest race of their lives. Almorola rightfully blocked when Dillon had a huge run. Dillon was rightfully not about to check up and ended up turning the 43. He may have been able to go low around the 43 but that's a much more difficult move than we are giving are giving it credit for and has to happen very, bery quickly. Plus making such a move may have required Dillon to let off the throttle which of course he wasn't going to do

I understand Almorla's disappointment and in fact he's earned a lot of respect and admiration from me with how he handled the whole thing we class in post race. He easily could have shite on Dillon and I wouldn't have blamed him given the stakes but he didn't, remained very classy, and hopefully will continue to prove his talent as the season unfolds

He has definitely gained fan by his performance and attitude today
