I'm getting into totals a little more. I don't mind losing when it's a "good bet" that goes wrong. Like Winnipeg and Caps tonight. Both had super good goalies and even though they can score, season is narrowing down and they both got to play tight. The over might have busted but you gotta take that chance.

May move to more totals since the juice on the sides is getting really out of hand lately.

Ovi scores two goals in a head to head matchup with Laine for the NHL goal scoring lead. He takes back the lead 42-41, but more importantly, becomes just the 4th player to score 600 goals in under 1000 games.

He also did it in an era with dramatically depressed goal scoring. If not for Ovi, we'd be asking if anyone was ever gonna score 50 goals again? He staked his claim as the greatest goal scorer in NHL history. He's led the NHL in goals in 6 times and is knocking on the door of #7. Gretzky only did it 5 times. with Gordie Howe. Esposito? 6. Bobby Hull holds the record at 7.

Ovi comfortably sits with the greatest pur goal scorers in hockey history. And as Kuznetsov said in the post game...

“That’s huge, you know. When you look at those numbers here, you don’t even think, ‘Five ninety-nine, six hundred, eh...,’ but then when you understand, you go, ‘Holy f***, that’s a lot of goals,’ you know? I can’t score 20 in a year, this is six hundred!”

Yup. Ovi got Kuznetsov to drop an f-bomb to The Washington Post. Cool night.

scary to think Laine is only 19.

I wouldn't mind if Washington beat Pittsburgh in the playoffs this year fwiw

Laine is a bad motherscratcher. I'd love if he became a star because A) Winnipeg needs a guy like that and B) I want the next goal scoring monster to be in the West, far away from my team. But remember, the highest scoring teenager in NHL history is Jimmy Carson. There's a long way to go. (To be fair, the next three are Hawerchuk, Laine, and Gretzky).

Also, his postgame comments were really cool. A little bit respectful to the legend, a little bit cocky young punk. He threaded the needle perfectly.

Preds on fire. Up 3-0 less than 10 minutes into the first.

Two short handed goals a minute a part

Carson is a really fascinating name. He got off to a fast start to his career scoring 50 goals at 19. But then traded to Oilers in Gretzy trade. While he still had some very good seasons, he quickly flamed out after traded several more times. By 27 he was already out of the league.
