This is a soap opera. Meeting over, sources say, but LAC stalling, staying with DeAndre because they know Mark Cuban just landed n Houston.

I thought Cuban was the first one in Houston?
Posted on 7/8/15 at 5:11 pm to tgr4ever
Yeah, other NBA folk on twitter were saying Cuban was there with quickness today. Broussard may be going full retard.

Clippers stalling, trying to keep DeAndre away from meeting with Cuban
This is the Clippers crew and Cuban right now.

Ripple effect if DeAndre Jordan backs out on Mavs are widespread. Multiple deals were done -- and not done -- based on his commitment.

For example, Mavs had Hibbert trade lined up before Jordan committed, source says. Hibbert headed to Lakers. But if DJ backs out, what then?

there is no fricking way the pacers go back on this

Yeah, I don't think that teams will invite future ill will over the likes of Hibbert, even if reneging and trading him to Dallas results in a marginally better return.

if anything, it opens the mavs up to signing jeremy lin straight up instead of having to do a S&T. thats how this would effect us

I don't see why they would be interested in Lin if they lose Jordan. Carlisle is still young and Cuban isn't reliant on the Mavericks as an income. They can afford a tank year to reset the team.
I was saying on the Pels forum that I think, if Dirk wants to have a chance at a title this season, a trade to Houston for Motie or Jones + filler would make sense. Deal Parsons for an expiring + the best long term piece you can get and let Matthews renege on his deal if he wants is a smart option.
Their 2016 draft pick is going to Boston unless it's in the top 7. Those moves would make them one of the worst in the West and give them a good shot at keeping their pick to go along with whatever assets they pick up from the trades. Cuban + no income tax Texas can lure some good free agents in 2016 and give them a much brighter future than keeping Matthews/Parsons/Dirk.

Houston would never trade Motiejunas for Dirk.

I think they would consider it if they believe themselves to be title contenders this season. Dirk may very well stick with his player option next season if they make a deep playoff run. He's not the Dirk of old, but he's still a valuable player at $8m/yr.
And I must be the only person on the planet that thinks Jones > Motie.

Yes. You are. Jones has flat out sucked arse in the playoffs for two straight years. D-Mo really came into his own before the fluke back injury last year. D-Mo will be a better player than Dirk next year.
These are some highlights from Motiejunas last year. His post game is extremely polished. Consider how scouts are oozing over Okafor's post game coming out of Duke. Motiejunas is on that level, and he was doing it consistently against NBA players. He even was shooting the three well in the second half of the season.

Jones could have good games here and there. But D-Mo figured it out this year. He always had great moves but couldn't finish. He learned how to finish this year and his post-up game was damn-near unstoppable.
He also shot the 3 better this year at a respectable 37%.
He also was one of the best rim protectors at his position.
He made huge strides this past year. Terrence Jones seemingly did not progress much if at all from the previous year.
