Sweet Lou is coming of a career year, but yes their team is going to be fun to watch.
The need to add Beasley just for kicks, they've been after him more than once in his career.
I was hoping the Grizz were finally going to add another playmaking/shooting wing player.
also, when is someone going to raid the Nuggets of Chandler/Dano/Lawson/Faried?

would probably involve Haywood's expiring contract
whatever team has him can save $10.5m if they waive him before Aug 1

Gilbert wants that ring man and he's willing to buy it.
Cavs are willing to give up Hayword and Varejao. Dan Gilbert's net worth is 4.8 billion by the way.

Heat payroll edging past $130M in salary and tax; hard cap possible
quote:
Counting just the players currently under guaranteed contract to the Heat (or about to become guaranteed at Thursday's close of the signing moratorium), the Heat currently are facing tax obligations at several ascending increments:
-- For the first $5 million above the tax threshold, they would be taxed $2.5 per dollar in salary (when counting the Heat being in the "repeater" tax for being in the tax four years in a year period), for a tax of $12.5 million on up to $86.5 million in payroll.
--- For the second $5 million above the tax threshold, they would be taxed at $2.75 per dollar for $13.75 million in additional tax.
-- Then, the remainder of the Heat's currently guaranteed total above the cap plus necessary cap holds puts them with at least an additional $10.5 million in tax due.
So just counting those three thresholds, without even considering spending the $3.4 million taxpayer mid-level exception, the Heat would owe the NBA $37 million in tax payments beyond the estimated $94 million cost of the current payroll, for a total roster cost in excess of $130 million.
And that could weigh heavily when it comes to considering use of the $3.4 million taxpayer mid-level, which at the Heat's current payroll and tax level could wind up costing as in excess of $13 million in additional tax. Using that exception with the current roster in place then could put the Heat's payroll cost at nearly $150 million.

Haywood and Andy V's salaries could match up in a trade for JJ

When you trade players the salary has to match up to 125%.
Verajo is owed like 9.6 mill and Haywood is owed like 10.5 mill.
Joe Johnson makes like 24.5 mill.
9.6+10.5 = 20.1
20.1 = 1.25 = 25.13
Soooo.. In theory the trade can be made. I just don't think it's a smart trade. If they are doing it they must be planning on just getting TT to sign his QO and picking up D West for the vet min and letting JR walk.
Kyrie\Delly
JJ\Iman
LeBron\JJ
Kevin Love\D West\James Jones
Mozgov\TT
??

Hayword is owed $10.5 million and Varejao is owed $9.6.

This is the last year of his contract also so this would be the only year they had to pay him big money.
If they end up keeping TT at his qualifying offer instead of giving him the 80 mill deal right now that could save them about 10 mill this season. Then they trade Verajo and thats another 10 mill they got rid of. Next they dont re-sign JR so thats an extra 6-7 mill they didnt spend and instead they pay JJ his 25 mill for 1 season.
Ends up being the same amount of money they were planning on spending but you only get JJ on a 1 year deal.
Resigning him next year to a longer\cheaper deal could mean a really solid backup for LeBron going forward.
My mind is completely blown right now tbh. Can't decide if I like it or not
Either way I think it's just a smokescreen to try and convince other teams to hurry up and do a deal for Haywood.

Would be pretty fantastic for the Cavs.
Starting lineup of Kyrie, JJ, Lebron, Love, and Mozgov would be fantastic, particularly with Shumpert, Thompson, Delly, and possibly West off the bench.
And then you could potentially resign JJ cheaply next season.
The only thing the Cavs starting lineup last year was missing was a consistent scorer from the shooting guard/wing spot, and JJ would be a huge upgrade from Smith in that regard.

I want DWade to stay Miami just because I like seeing players stick with one team if possible, but if the Heat had signed say a Khris Middleton they would be better equipped to make a run with the rest of their core.
20 million is ridiculous for a 33 year old guard with limited 3 point shooting ability who plays 60-65 games a year. It's the Kobe contract.

Miami has to pay D Wade or they become known for not taking care of their superstar players. That's one of the worst reputations a franchise can have.

$7m per for Williams is a good deal imo. I would really like to see the Lakers unload Swaggy P and grab a nice wing defender.
