Like me?

On average, I spend about $30 a year betting on horse races (mostly spend on one race a year). I am not claiming to know everything about the sport.

Ok, I'm a dummy when it comes to racing. My friend thinks he is an expert horse gambler. Out of all 12 of the bets he made, I'll Have Another was not in any of them.

What was the knock on this horse that so many seemed to not be betting on him.

Just a few would be, first time Derby jockey and very bad post position. He got a dream trip and ran well. Hats off to him.

No knocks really. Post position was 19. Not the best place to start. 18 horses inside of him. No horse has ever won from the 19 position before I'll Have Another btw. I narrowed the 20 down to 9 horses (3,4,6,8,10,11,15,16,19) after my initial pass over PPs. My bets included 8 of the 9. The one horse I dropped was the 19 horse.

Oh well.

Next year.

I guess I'm lucky.

I picked 10 horses. Told the girl I was with last night to pick 3 out of the 10. She picked #19. In turn I bet #19. Winner winner.

Learned an expensive lesson today in horse racing...

This was my post from earlier

quote:

As much as I enjoy Horse Racing, I really only wager on it during the triple crown races, I deposited on twin spires last year and did the same again today.

I like watching the prep races and trying to get a feel for the horses I like, I have had a decent amount of success and it's more fun for me that way.. I watched about 20 races last night on YouTube and jotted down a few horses I liked, lol, here is who I'm putting money on. My wife Always picks the favorite so I always try to outwit her, she is the one that got my Hooked on this 10-15 years ago.

Here is the horses I like in order:
Dullahan
Alpha
I'll Have Another
Bodemeister
Union Rags
Take Charge Indy

So obviously I was on top of the fricking world for about 10 minutes after having all top 3 horses! I boxed in combinations of 4 horses, 4 different ways for trifectas

Low and Behold I did not box my top 4 fricking horses, so instead of hitting the $1 tri and winning $1578, I lost $150. I am going to be kicking myself all weekend over this mishap.

I will be boxing in all my top horses from now on out.

Damn, I bet you are freaking nauseated right now...That sucks man.....

If it makes you feel any better (which it won't), I made a huge mistake last year betting on the Saints vs. Giants. I originally bet around $50 or so on the Saints minus the points...At the half, the Saints were looking strong, so I put another hundred on the the 2nd half...But I was drunk, and accidently bet on the Giants...So, at the end of the night, instead of being up $150, I was down $50...I know, that is small potatoes compared to what happened to you today.....

About ten years ago, one of my clients sued this dude Reddam. The guy ran the legal costs through the roof and said he could do it because his rich son paid the tab. We always wondered what the son did. I think the son won the Kentucky Derby today.

I'll take 3rd in a g2. Anyone see our horse?

Btw, I'm a fricking dumbass and didn't take bode. Would have hit exacta. Instead I just had a small win bet on the 19

Yeah I saw your horse, Won a few dollars on a show bet! I'm sure that was exciting as hell!

On the other hand looks like you and I both just missed the tri, I'm sick to my stomach about it, really didn't see too many others on I'll Have Another.

I loved I'll have another.

Just hope it stays dry for the Preakness.

Got lots of great pictures from the paddock in our race. I was a nervous wreck.

They are on my camera and all I have up here is my phone.

Got some good ones of our horse and shackleford and also the crowd. There was no way in hell I was going anywhere near the paddock for the derby (couldn't get in anyway).
