didn't they lose Guerrero and Figgins?

Losing your 2 and 4 hitters is somewhat of a blow, no matter who you have sitting behind them. Especially if it's someone without the experience.

Did I miss the Angels signing someone?

But they are getting full season out of Kazmir!

Really, the Rangers are the best team on paper this year. Their "what ifs" are the lowest in the West. But the game ain't played on paper, and if it's a dogfight between a team managed by Scoscia and one by Ron Washington... well, advantage, Angels on that score.

Prom...just a bit of fail there. Figgy was the leadoff hitter and Vlad may have been the 4 hitter, but that was out of respect only IMO.

I think that Matsui>>Vlad at this point in their careers.

Figgins will be missed, but I think that it was time for Wood (a top prospect for a number of years) to be given a chance to step up. He brings more power at 3B and Aybar will replace Figgins at the top of the order and will continue to develop into a great top of the order guy.

Only signed Piniero to be the 5th SP and Matsui.

Last year the Mariners were picked by most mags to win the West and we saw how that turned out.

I'm going with the Phillies in the NL and Red Sox in the AL.

Prom, Vlad was DONE. Perhaps his #s will be better in Texas this year, but that may be more about playing in Texas than him "getting better". Matsui will deliver for the Angels and if not they have some good young kids.

Regarding Wood, I am not sure you know much about this kid.

I think Vlad will have very good numbers in Arlington obviously. Who is the Angles number 4 starter?

Baloo,

Let me know you can't use some of those tickets. Loves me a trip to the Ballpark.

I would guess that Saunders is #4, but there is no clear ACE in my opinion.

Santana
Kazmir
Weaver
Saunders
Pineiro (or Palmer)

My new division winners:

D-Backs - Good/great starters 1-3 and two great hitters in the middle of their order. Not sure the Dodgers can depend on old players like Manny, Furcal and Blake. Kemp's average is bound to dip because of his K rate.

Rangers - Best lineup in the division and decent enough pitching with Feldman, Hunter and 15-20 games of Harden. Borbon and Andrus will provide a lot of speed. I think the Angels take a step back without Figgy and age is bound to catch up with them (Hunter, Matsui, Abreu).

White Sox - Very good rotation top to bottom. Good bullpen. Beckham will get better and I like the addition of Rios - I think he'll rebound. They have some multidimensional players in their lineup. And I think Quentin will undoubtedly hit better in his 400 ABs this season.

World Series:

Cards over Yanks

The Yankees may have the best rotation in baseball but Wainwright and Carpenter (if he stays healthy after all those innings last year) make the best one-two punch in baseball. Pujols and Holliday are also a deadly combo.

Of the 42 players that hit over .300 last season 15 had over 100 SOs.

If Kemp's average dips, it won't be because of strikeouts. There's no reason to think he won't be the best CF in baseball again this season.

The problem with Kemp is that he doesn't have great plate discipline. He doesn't take walks and he's been lucky on balls in play. I'm not saying he'll hit .260, but I don't think he'll hit .300.
