85 bears but average teams today would destroy both of them bc athletes are just bigger, faster, and stronger.

85 Jordan could dunk from free throw line, but bigger faster stronger... or maybe just better equipment and training?

72 Phins. Most people don't realize the stretch of 71-73 was one of the most dominant runs in history

LSU would probably win by 50
The athletes from then were so inferior it's ridiculous

It’s definitely better equipment, training, and knowledge. Humans didn’t evolve that drastically in about 2-3 generations to be just naturally bigger, faster, and stronger.

Sarcasm has no place here.

Ironically, the lone defeat for the 1985 Bears....came from the Miami Dolphins.

78 Steelers, 84 Niners, 76 Raiders all beat the 72 Dolphins pretty handidly.
Most Any of the pre-free agency, pre salary cap dynasty teams best squad have a good claim at being the best team ever.

The 84 iners would be a tough matchup for the Fins. The Fins absolutely roll the 76 Raiders. The Raiders D just wasn't up to the standards of the other teams in this discussion. Miami had the one thing that neutralizes the advantage of the Steelers and Bears - a dominant offensive line. That OL was the best in NFL history.
The Bears offense wasn't elite. Payton was not going to run on the Fins, and I'm not sure the Steelers would, either. Once you take away the Bear's run game, they get pretty average. And I like Arnsparger's zones and 53 defense against Terry Bradshaw. I'd say the Fins beat the Bears and Steelers by a FG. I'd put the 84 Montana 49ers a 4-5 point favorite over my Dolphins.

The 72 Dolphins had one of the easiest schedules for an all time great team that year so I'll go 85 Bears.
