re: 12 years ago today, Pat Tillman gave his life for this country

There are definitely questionable details about both his and Chris Kyle's deaths. Both were honorable men who were willing to serve and fight for America.

Pat Tillman himself said that the war was bullshite and illegal and not worth fighting for, and that he would have never signed up knowing then what he knew now.
This is why Tillman is my hero. War in general is BS. They put a gun in your hand and train you to kill. They ship you off to a foreign land, and are forced to kill some guy that you don't know. He doesn't know you and are forced to do the same. But Soldiers involved are more than soldiers. They are fathers, husbands, sons, brothers to somebody.
Funny how people in charge of deciding to go to war never send their own flesh and blood. It's always the common folks to have to sacrifice. Just like credence Clearwater revival said "I ain't no senators son".

Yeah I'm not trying to cause a stir with the "possibly murder" comment, I'm just covering my bases.
These are the concerns for those who suspect foul play discussed on Wikipedia:
From the guys I know who were there, they said what they believed happened was that there was fire elsewhere in a nearby valley (could have been insurgents firing on another American element or at each other or who the hell knows) that wasn't directed at the Black Sheep themselves but spooked them and got their nerves up. That can echo in the mountains (and in urban areas, for that matter) and make you think it's either much further or much closer than it really is.
They then started firing on each other, believing they were in contact. The SAW gunner beaded in on Tillman thinking he was an insurgent (you're trained to look for and shoot at barrels or the quick burst of light of a firing weapon, not necessarily another human being, though most of the time you get both). He made the heroic but fatal decision to try to get up and make himself known rather than wait in cover and let it sort itself out (which it might not have, in any case).
The SF sniper thing is funny to me - a single round from an SF sniper shooting a 24 or a Barrett would have blown his head clear off, not the tight little shot group that a M249 burst put in his head.
The cover up was uglier than hell. McCrystal came out looking terribly in that episode.

The circumstances around his death really suck though.

Bro. Hate to say it but he got taken by "friendly" fire cuz he pissed off the wrong people.
Friendly fire my azz. Just sayin what y'all r all thinking.
Still think the dude was brave and selfless.

I like how there is already a demonstrated cover up and conspiracy and it's still not enough for the tin foil crowd

Although he was an American Hero, there are many many others like him and even more heroic who don't get the recognition . That being said, Thank you Pat and RIP.

That's because there isn't one, so you have what is called common sense
