You don’t know enough to realize you’re using a double standard.

Name a conference year better

7/16 teams in the sweet 16 is unreal
to be fair, need to calibrate that for conf size.

Umm, no

Part of what makes a conference tough is how many good teams are in it. If it gets bigger it’s going to be tougher because that’s more good teams to beat

It’s “what conference is best” not which is best per capita

Sure, is you have a conference of 6 and you have 4 elite teams that’s better per capita than a conference with 7 elite teams out of 16, but that 16 team conference is a whole lot tougher

Multiple conferences have put 3 teams into the final 4.

What if the sec does that too?

They haven’t done that. They haven’t tied or broken the elite 8 record yet.

You said they “absolutely aren’t the best ever though”. So you must know they won’t right?

Because, so far, this SEC conference has :

Most teams ever in tournament
Tied most teams ever in R32
Most teams ever in sweet 16

I mean…..

I want every SEC team besides LSU to fall on their face. But as of now, the conference is on an all time historic pace

Very good conference in an extremely down year across the country in a watered down sport. There isn’t a team from the SEC that’s close to as good as UConn from last year, Baylor from 2021, UNC from 06 or 09, the great Duke 90s teams, 96 Kentucky or anybody like that.

Why is the sport “watered down”?

Kids have to go to college and can’t go pro from high school so it’s certainly less watered down than the 90s and early 2000s

Just saw your edit and that’s the inverse of reality.

Are they taking the portal to a magical world outside the NCAA?

They are still playing college basketball….

They don’t stay in one place and develop. You can’t stack classes like before. You’ll never have a Grant Hill and a Christian Laettner on the same team again.

I don't like the SEC because my school isn't in it but that is a great year for a conference.
