If I was a big time school, Id partner with a smaller school or juco and get some of these kids playing time to develop. Then just have them transfer in when they are ready.

Why would the elite QB go to the smaller school off the bat when they can get 5 figures from some other P5 school instead?

This was called the freshman team. But that hasn’t been used for decades at most schools. Alabama last had one in 2002.

At this point in CFB, you may as well not even recruit an elite 5* QB straight out of HS unless you absolutely NEED a starting QB immeidately adn don't have other options.

I think you're close to right. I think many of the 5-stars, though, are comfortable with a year where they come in an learn the ropes, maybe play a little or even possibly redshirt, with the idea that they will be the guy by their second year. If that path isn't clear by December of their freshman year, most are going to bail at the end of year one.

Many are, you're right. But the cream of the crop, the guys that think they are the best HS player in america (whether they actually are or not) aren't going to think that way and are just going to demand money for their services. And if a team is shitty enoguh (nebraska) or desperate enough (texas A&M) they'll pay it. Which then fricks things up for hte next HS class because then those recruits will say "well hell you paid that guy $2M, that's what I want too".

It's almost hard to even fathom how far CFB has fallen off a cliff in just 5 years. It's practically not even the same sport anymore.

To play. When I say partner, I mean big school collective gives money and kid goes where they tell him to even though NIL is not supposed to be tied to schools.

Little school makes money from big time recruits playing, big school keeps their prospects from going elsewhere.

No different than "placing" someone in a juco.

Those aren't usually the same player. It does make recruiting more difficult, but I'd think that the coaches know pretty early on what they are dealing with.

Mccords got one year left.
he's a RS sophomore

McCord didn't redshirt in 2021. He burned it because when Quinn Ewers decided to reclassify, McCord's dad was worried that Quinn would usurp McCord if Kyle didn't get "proper playing time" and "if Kyle is the backup and the future, there's no need to redshirt him. He will be gone in 4 years."

So McCord played one meaningful game in 2021 (started against Akron for injured CJ Stroud) and played in mop up duty in 4 other games. He was going to be held out of the Michigan State game in the 2nd to last week of the season, but McCord's dad insisted that he play before Ewers even though it woukd burn his redshirt.

He played in 7 meaningless games in 2022, all in garbage time.

2023 obviously he played in every game.

He has one year of eligibility left.

Not surprising a clown like you would be so obviously wrong, but just correcting the record.

I guess my question is why Day allowed his dad to be so active? Should've sent that dude on his way after the first year.

This likely would have been the plan if Ewers didn't hit the portal.

Ewers reclassifying put a major kink in the works of our QB machine. And the fact that McCord clearly doesn't have the mental fortitude to be a major college QB.

ahh I was wondering why some talented kid would consider modern day Nebraska as an option.

Birm’s story of McCord’s pre-game Michigan speech being essentially don’t make mistakes and then he hands Michigan a TD in the 1st quarter, which is the difference in the game (along with all his other missed reads), sums him up pretty well.

This is how a premier program in the sport runs their QB room?

If you’re going to flip, why the F would you go to Nebraska? That program is beyond dead. If you’re a QB you flip to USC…it’s the only rational choice
