Had this dicussion at lunch.
Whats harder to get to.
Going from 90's to 80's or 80's to 70's consistently?
Not just shooting it one time actually staying in the average.
I can't shoot 70's so i have to go 90's to 80's.

The closer you get to par the harder it gets to get there.

Masters tries to hard to be unique and whatever. No reason that every shot hit in the Masters shouldn't be shown.
Ill try and get it changed when I'm the superintendent.

id say 90s to 80s. because you are still a novice and dont really understand your mistakes or the game yet
when you are shooting 82s and stuff you know where you are losing your strokes and what you need to improve on etc.
90s to 80s is a lot of times keeping the ball in play plus all that other stuff
ETA:
for me its to break 70. Ive shot low 70s for awhile now and cant break 70. shot 70 on the number multiple times but cant break it. I have gone bogey bogey to shoot 70 on the number before too

80-70's IMO
easily. simple course management can get a lot of guys from 90s to 80s

i can see yalls point but i personally still agree with my statement. there really isnt a right answer because its tailored to the person

Phil hitting fairways.

80s to 70s for sure. I've gone from barely breaking 100 to shooting high 80s most days. Going from 80s to 70s requires more greens. Less putts. Missing the green and a few three putts you can still shoot 80s fairly regularly.

This is where I am. Handicap around 12-13. Short game is the difference between mid 80s and mid-high 70s and I just dont have the time to practice that.

It just depends. I say once you can consistently hit the ball then going 90s to 80s is easier. Hitting consistently even if you're not hitting greens will get you low 90s at least.

yeah. i guess i can agree with that
not trying to pat myself on the back but its been awhile since I couldnt break 80. every once in awhile i will still shoot an 82 or so but most of the time its mid 70s

I just miss the greens by a bit. Chip for an up and down par or a two putt bogey. 70s requires birdie looks a few times on the front and back 9.
I can make pars rain down and get bogeys most holes. Birdies are much more rare.

this is the difference. I probably have 10 up and down opportunities around the green in a round but only get maybe 2-3/10 up and down. Need to get that to 6-7/10.

this is where my score really improved. I started to become a better ball striker and hit more greens but mostly I started chipping really well and most of the time getting up and down

I'm on my way. Goal is to break 80 by end of the summer.
