I think uncomfortably high inflation is likely to continue under either, but the reason I think it's likely to be lower under Biden is twofold: he's already done his big blowout spending plan, and he's shown a willingness to allow the Fed to significantly raise interest rates. On the other hand, Trump is likely going to want to come in and do some splashy spending at the same time return to browbeating the Fed about trying to undermine his presidency if they either raise, or simply won't lower, the rate.

Super excited about having these two geriatric jackasses as our only two choices for president, though. fricking awesome.

Bro, if Biden were to win and get Congress you can’t imagine how much he would spend.

I do agree Trump will spend if he wins, but I don’t think it will be as much.

I could be wrong, but I just don't think it will be markedly different. And whatever difference there might be, I'm very concerned that Trump will return to his bully tactics re: interest rates which would more than make up the difference.

What has Biden done to help decrease inflation? What are parties future plans? I mean what are they waiting on?

I'm no huge Trump guy, but he gave the stimulus money due to Covid. That was a pretty fricking major issue. Yes I agree he kicked the can on the interest rates but again....Covid...yes the government response to Covid was terrible but had the democrats been in charge holy shite it would have been much much worse. How can anyone argue different?

I haven't looked into Trump's plans much to be honest as I really don't want either of them, but I don't see how Trump wouldn't be a vastly superior choice in regards to inflation and pro american business.

Are you fricking retarded? The Fed chair is appointed by the president. When the sitting president starts barking that any talk of raising interest rates by the Fed is simply an attempt to undermine his presidency, and in fact we should potentially lower the rates into the negatives, only an idiot, or a Fed chairman who wants to lose their job, is going to publicly buck that president when their term ends during said presidency. And guess whose current term ends during the next presidential term...

Not fighting the Fed in raising interest rates. I think Biden is a fricking potato, and I think the Fed should be abolished, but if the Fed is going to exist, having a president who isn't going to cry into any microphone you hand him that the Fed is trying to undermine his presidency is preferable to having one who is.

Again, frick Biden, frick Trump, and frick the Fed. I have no love for any of them. Both Biden and Trump have track records of running massive deficits. But only one of them has a track record of trying to bully the Fed into making inflation even worse than it already would have been. So on this one, narrow issue, I actually think Biden would be better. But even if you don't, I don't think any reasonable person can say that the proposition is entirely unreasonable.

But I genuinely hope both Trump and Biden get incapacitated before the election, because fricking hell, this fricking sucks.

When did I say he stopped spending, you fricking potato?

And jesus frick, it takes a special level of koolaid drinking to believe, with absolutely zero indication, that Trump would do an about face on an issue he crowed about over and over again. You're fricking wishcasting at best and utterly delusional at worst.

ETA: Also, apparently yes, he has, in fact, said he would likely apply pressure to lower rates if he were elected: LINK

Meaning that I don't anticipate for him to do another big splashy spending plan, as I've said repeatedly in this thread. On what planet would that imply that he "stopped spending", you absolute fricking donkey?
quote:

You can't actually be this stupid... he called for negative rates when he was president: LINK
And has called for the lowering of rates from where they are now if elected (already linked). Which was in answer to this question of yours:
quote:

Has Orange been calling for negative rates if he gets back in or lower rates?

Relevant portion bolded. So yes, to answer to your question, he has, in fact, called for the lowering of rates if he's elected. I genuinely can't tell whether you've actually gotten this stupid over the years, or whether you're simply being dishonest.

Rates where zero when he was prez. He has in fact called for lower rates (no shite) but hasnt in fact called for negative rates if reelected like you claimed

I mean you are not a bright person but you are getting real angry like any liberal being called out on their mierda

Again, I genuinely can't tell if you're this stupid or if you're being dishonest. I never, not once, said that he was calling for rates to go negative if he were reelected. You're just flat out making that up. This is what I said:
quote:

On the other hand, Trump is likely going to want to come in and do some splashy spending at the same time return to browbeating the Fed about trying to undermine his presidency if they either raise, or simply won't lower, the rate.

The only thing I've said that you could even disingenuously try to twist is this:
quote:

Are you fricking retarded? The Fed chair is appointed by the president. When the sitting president starts barking that any talk of raising interest rates by the Fed is simply an attempt to undermine his presidency, and in fact we should potentially lower the rates into the negatives, only an idiot, or a Fed chairman who wants to lose their job, is going to publicly buck that president when their term ends during said presidency. And guess whose current term ends during the next presidential term...

Yet I'm clearly talking about something that has happened in the past (and verifiably did happen in the past, as I've linked), not something that would happen in the future, as Trump is no longer the sitting president.

Wait, you are aware that Trump isn't the president right now, right? Are we getting into some kind of Q fever dream here?

ETA: And frick you with your "no shite" nonsense. You flat out challenged me on whether Trump had discussed "lowering rates" if he were reelected, and now that I've proven he has, you want to pretend as though you weren't arguing it earlier in the thread. Stop fricking lying you hack.

Sorry clown, the post that I edited was the post clearly talking about events in the past. Also, the only edit I made was that I realized I had incorrectly typed “who’s”, which I fixed to whose. How much did it hurt when you went back to look at my first post, the one clearly discussing what I think Trump would do in the future, only to realize it had never been edited?

You’re a clown, everyone on this board knows you’re a clown, so go back to your safe space on the PT, clown
