If you believe it will, when will that occur? How low do you believe the Dow will go? Is 5000 some sort of tipping point?

Yep. Probably by August. But 5000 is just the tip of the shitstorm.

Yes.

No clue.

No clue. In the depression we lost 80%+ of the dow. That would put us in the 2000 range or so.

we passed the tipping point a long time ago.

I think we ride this thing down to about 1500 by the end of the year. It could go to zero but I don't think it will get that bad.

i would be surprised if it doesn't drop below 5000. everytime we artificially prop up the economy, the bottom drops lower. unless drastic (real) changes are made, we're fricked. by fricked i mean canned food, insane inflation and "grown men living with their parents again" fricked.

i would say w/in months not years, but it's impossible to predict.

If it goes below 5000 I'm thinking of buying. I get the impression that 5000 is some sort of invisible floor. When we dip below it and the world is still here we will begin to recover. This is based on no facts other than my gut feeling.

I don't see it going below 5,000. I've always felt 6,500 was the bottom. There is a shite load of money waiting on the sidelines to jump into the market. If the banks would only get their act together so the turnaround can begin. It just goes to show what empty suits of greed we have running our financial institutions.

I still think it will rebound to somewhere around 10,000 and then the bottom will drop out, spinning us down faster than this time. It's all based on emotion. If they can rally emotion, stocks will rally, but only for a short time. Our economy is a house of cards...

My gut feeling is that you will lose a lot of money.

10,000 is almost a 40% rally from here. Not gonna happen anytime soon.

As long as we're going with gut feelings, here goes......

A rebound to close to 10,000 by the end of the year.
Obama is officially crowned King of the World.
What follows becomes the worst depression in US history.
The market spirals to around 2000 (or less).
It takes years to recover.

Man, I hope I'm wrong.

what in your opinion would cause such a rebound and if it happens what would then cause a more significant collapse than we have just suffered?

You made the prediction you must be thinking of something?

If they don't get their act together and fix the banking system, it will drop below 3000.

I have two scenarios;
1. International bankers have manipulated this whole thing, IMHO. They're going to want to make the American people believe the bailout/stimulus worked, so they'll work their magic on the market and push it back up to around 10000.
When Barry is annointed King of the World, they will use him to loot whatever they didn't steal the first time. They'll turn their back on the market and it will fall....In a hurry.
That's the concept. I'll leave it up to you guys to fill in the details.

B) The bailout/stimulus is legit. Or as legit as it can be. Even so, the economy will only be stimulated for a short time. At that point it will go into freefall because as I see it, there are no more options left.

3300 would be my best guess, probably in the Dog Days of Summer.

I expect it will drop another 400 next week after The Kleptocrats make their rounds on the Sunday shows...
