re: What to think with Tesla now?

Come on man this is never going to happen.
Tesla is behind Ford, Mercedes, and even BMW in driver less tech for personal cars. And slowly been losing market share in the EV market in the USA, and very quickly across the globe.
Its "robo-taxi" business is way behind competition. Especially considering Teslas still has no approved Level 3 kit yet, which allows for full autonomy.
Waymo has been operating without a driver since 2022, now operates in seven cities. With new cities opening up soon, including Atlanta this summer. They are already up to 250K rides per week.

Robotaxi handles all personal travel. People soon realize they really dont need to own a car.
This will happen, but at what scale, who knows?
Let's think about this. I live in Colombia. I don't own a car. Why? Because Uber is $1-$2.
If people have access to cheap transportation it does not make sense to own a depreciating asset.
Now, I don't think there is a chance this takes over everything. But 20% penetration rate in cities? I could eaisly see that.

Why are all your takes so retarded? This shows you do not understand waymo vs tesla at all yet speak on the topic like you do.
Drop a waymo off in any spot that is not premapped and it does nothing. It sits there. Tesla is already driving by itself all over the world.
The economics are in Teslas favor, not Waymo as anyone who has studied the topic can tell you.
Waymo cost per car - $150,000
Tesla Cost for Robotaxi - $30,000

The economics for vehicle price don’t matter with no approved fully autonomous driving and Elon may have just set Tesla back in getting anything approved.

Tesla “robotaxi” (driverless taxi) is set to roll out in Austin TX next week.
ETA: a driverless tesla. Robotaxi will begin rolling off the production line end of 2025 and production will ramp up early 2026.

Your inability to think logically about the future has probably cost you a lot of money in your life.

Yeah, but Waymo works. I've ridden in one. Tesla cost for a robotaxi could be $1 but if they don't have any on the road, who gives a frick?

I tell you what man, these model Ts are cool and all but who the hell cares when the roads are dirt and i my horse and buggy works just fine!

What was illogical about what I said? As of today, Waymo has the only full self driving taxi that can be used by the public. Tesla has none and has no approved full self driving. So the fact Tesla can produce a robo taxi cheaper means nothing until they have full self driving approved for public use. I’d say that’s actually a logical explanation of the situation vs the hypotheticals required to defend Tesla re: robo taxi.

By the time this happens, you have already missed the trade by 6 months.

Great, and logical, retort.

How do you figure? Ford's "driver less tech" only works on certain mapped highways. Very limited.
Mercedes is similar in that it's only available on certain highways, but even more limited in that it's only available in California and Nevada, and only under certain conditions (under 40mph). The only advantage I can see that it has over Tesla is that it apparently allows drivers to take their eyes off of the road, which Tesla doesn't.
BMW appears to have an eyes/hands-free highway option with similar limitations (40mph, highways only) that isn't currently available in the US. Their options in the US appears to be simple highway-only.
Waymo's technology is impressive, but can only be used in geo mapped cities, of which there are currently 4 metro areas served. Plus it's not an option to own as a full time vehicle.
Teslas can self-drive pretty much anywhere in the country. I see no objective basis to claim that Ford/Mercedes/BMW are better options right now. Waymo may be, but there are a shitload of roads and people that aren't located in LA/SF/Phoenix/Austin.

For some reason Ford seems to get a free pass with theirs.
Every YouTube I’ve seen with ford’s seems terrifying because it fails in seemingly unpredictable situations.
For Tesla, the videos seem to target predictable situations where failure is anticipated.

In next weeks roll out in Austin, Tesla says their taxi will avoid, or go around, specific intersections.

Not a buyer

This is 100% a great argument for not buying.

I know nothing, yet you did not discredit anything I said.
Just that teslas are cheaper to produce, when you have no idea what the cost of a fully autonomous robotaxi is

The whole take is preposterous since I was replying to someone who said that Tesla will own 100% of the US car market. When in reality they are losing share of what little they have everyday.
They have no level 3 autonomous tech, which even at level 3 requires users to be ready to intervene at any time.
They state HW4 will be the time... but we are waiting as they have said it over and over again

They already stated they will be geofenced to a small part of the city.
