What are you paying for your electricity?

i'm paying about .12 per kwh with reliant at the moment and I know i'm getting raped there.
so when choosing a power provider, is price the only determining factor, or is there something else that I should be considering?
i went on powertochoose.com and found that there are some significantly lower rates out there from other providers (namely pennywise power, which offers a variable price structure starting at .062 pkwh. i know the pricing will fluctuate but i can't see it going any higher than what i'm currently paying.

In Texas, pretty much go with the lowest unless you find that they provide terrible customer service (in terms of billing only). Typically, the wires are serviced by one of only a few companies and the retail power is provided by tons of wholesalers. In other words, the company you choose will not be the one called to correct the problem if a power outtage takes place. Service will be handled by a reliable provider. You're really just contracting with someone who is buying the power and they believe they can supply it at the lowest cost. I've switched almost every year for the past 8 years in Texas without any problems.

Agreed^
I typically go with the lowest fixed rate provider I can find. I don't mess with the variable rates though.

10.20 fixed with reliant for a year, i stayed away from the teaser rates and some of the market priced options just because i like knowing my monthly payment. I paid 33 bucks last month in electricity...pretty pumped about that though

i went with pennywise power for 8.7c per 1000 kwh. i dont know much about them though, but the price is good, and their customer service was pretty good from what i experienced today.

My last two electric bills have been over $550. This is the most since I have lived at this current house (3 years) and is ridiculous. It's been very cold in East TN this year but enough is enough. I do know others that have had larger bills than me though.
TVA is also raising their rates due to a large ash spill a few years ago that needs to be cleaned up. Of course the customers are footing the bill.

In Delray Beach, FL my average for the last year was $0.11 PKH. We pay a set customer charge of $5.90 per month, $.086 for the first 1000 KWH and $.105 for each KH over 1000, and think there is a tax added as well.

No idea what they are pkh but my bill in the winter is usually around $600. That's L,G,W,&S
In the summer our bill is $700-850.
