My property tax alone is nearly 11k.
I’ve never understood people who say Louisiana property taxes are low.

I think one should not be able to deduct ANY state and local taxes (SALT). If you don’t like those taxes, go talk to your local politician, you don’t get to feed off the federal government

My property taxes went down last year and my assessed value didn’t go up 10% this year
My property value went up so fast after 2020 they hit the 10% cap 3 years running. I think one more 10% raise they will start hitting market value and I'll be able to get some value from protesting again. I don't feel like doing it myself and all the protest companies had to change how they collect fees because there were no "tax savings" to split.
The tax reduction for last year was due to homestead exemption going up, which was nice but fleeting.

If the state is running that big of a surplus again they’ll figure something out. They’re hamstrung by the state constitution (which is ultimately a good thing) but want to do what they can to lower property taxes when they can. They really ran out of time last year and the homestead exemption was the easiest way to enact some relief quickly

In Louisiana I pay like 30k in taxes between property and income tax. I only paid 14k in property taxes in Texas.
I pay 30k in property taxes alone.

They are likely to increase the exemption again.
There's a couple camps of thought on how best to deal with it.
