Because the first part of the sentence was the beginning of a stupid premise?

it's not like most people need to KNOW that spending thousands of dollars on eating out and booze.

what helps is the smack in the face that is the totality of it.

My wife increase her spending to match any raise I receive.

I think this is true of pretty much everybody everywhere. And it's not limited to women either.

I guess I do receive benefits from her spending, but not direct.

Maybe, but I took offense to the original implication which was that a Mint user is someone who can't budget without a program.

Its not that I can't budget with pen, paper, and/or memory, its the fact that why would I waste my time doing so when there is an easy method that does it for me automatically?

YTD - spent around $3700 on food (restaurants, groceries, etc)...its just me and the wife.
About the same amount for our cars (tolls, gas, maintenance)

Can mint break out your expenditures from a single purchase to your credit card?

For example, if you eat out and you got 5 beers with your dinner...or if you go to WalMart for your weekly grocery shopping but also bought a handle of Makers.

Yeah you can separate out purchases. I do that if I go to the grocery store and make some gluttonous alcohol purchase.

Correct.

I usually just pull a ballpark figure, doesn't take long at all.

Speaking of Mint features, I would really like the Investment part of things to be a bit more robust. I know it is free, but it seems to be an afterthought.

Of course, I imagine this is on purpose so they can still make whatever money is left to make with Quicken.

I don't want to even talk about what my alcohol consumption used to be. I'm so glad I reformed myself. If I had to guess, my rate may have been a grand or two more a year.

One Mardi Gras approached 5 to 600 for that week. I think that was when I decided to tone it down a notch.

My Mint budget is $120 bucks a month now. My friends think I've fallen off the face of the Earth the change is so drastic.

LTM A&B - $4878
LTM Restaurants - $2015
LTM Groceries - $1957 (this counts, I cook ridiculous shite all the time; see: current F&D Board thread).

I really think alot of people do.

I have a close family member that will bitch all the time about silly money issues. They will complain about gas prices going up a few pennies or the price of a pound of ground meat going up just .25.

Don't dare ask her about her I-Phone and the data plan she doesn't need, the cable tv cost with the movie channels, the cost of her nail and hair appointments, etc.
I guess some people just really have no idea of reality. They are going to spend most if not all of their earnings no matter what.

The investment tracking feature on Mint is worthless. It isn't even close to accurate. I would be willing to pay a little for a premium mint service with enhanced features.

As far as my booze figure, it is definitely inflated, as it is still catching June and July of last year, where I had no job or responsibilities and a fat signing bonus in my checking account. I partied like a freshman for a month and a half. I spend very little on bars any more, but I have built up a nice wine collection in the place of that. Buying wine is almost as fun as drinking it.

Almost.
