How are smaller companies affording to send their guys to get CDL's when it takes $7500 in tuition and a full month of training?

They get the guys who worked at the bigger companies first.

Bigger companies will pay for it and probably pay less than the smaller guys.

It really cost that much? I know some parishes are offering free classes to help recruit bus drivers.

I do CDL physicals. Never realized the class was that expensive. I have a lot of people who no longer drive and just come in to keep their medical card up to date so they don't lose their license.

They hire people who already have a CDL.

I found it funny early in my career when i learned about the whole box truck industry having these trucks derated down to 25999 gvwr so that you dont need a CDL. It was an early reality check to a college grad that the world operates fkn stupidly sometimes.

Cheap compared to what they will pay when a crappy driver plows into some local who then calls Get Gordon.
