I've ridden in autonomous taxis multiple times, no i'm not impressed with something that has existed for YEARS at this point.
I get what you're saying. Investing in Tesla is investing in Elon. I think he will re-focus and get it done. If I'm wrong, it'll sting. If I'm right, I'm set for life. I don't see this as a binary decision though. Even if Tesla doesn't hit the $25 Trillion he tossed around, I'll be doing well at $1 Trillion and up.

TSLA is at a trillion, I hope it goes up, just sitting there isn't really that great. I guess if they ever got robots working they would have a massive dividend to pay out, but 10 years to get a car to kinda drive, I'd say 2050 or more likely 2060 for an actual functional robot. Elon will be dead by then.

Don’t be so short sighted. The monitors did nothing to intervene and were there as a prudent safety measure since regulators have it out for Elon. He has to nail this with next to no errors. Safety monitors will be gone by this time next year if not sooner.

Waymo will never be able to scale or expand outside of their 3 geofenced dowtown locations. Roboxtaxi is already prepping for highway transport. Don’t be obtuse. It’s not even a competition anymore, you just can’t see it.

That's rich. Why don't you order a robotaxi to your house right now... oh wait, it's geofenced to a tiny downtown part of Austin.

Tesla plans to avoid bad weather, difficult intersections, and will not carry anyone below age 18.
LOL. We're gonna replace all the taxi drivers, well except when it rains, and through all the big intersections....

These idiots will never get it. Tesla just put Uber out of business.

Impossible to scale. TESLA has already reached the inflection point.
Each WAYMO costs over $150,000 a pop.
A model 3 production cost is under $30,000
There won't be a winner take all in this space but TESLA is 100 miles ahead.

This is a successful rollout in my book. I’ve known it already but so much for all the LIDAR evangelicals.
Dude, they can't even use it when it rains because it relies on cameras which don't deal with weather well.
Elon could shite in your mouth and you'd claim it tasted better than any steak you've ever had.

Lol, I wasn't aware uber had an AI division....

They are behind.
Waymo is already doing 250k+ paid rides per week and are testing in Tokyo and NYC.

$100 bet that Tesla has more paid rides per week than Waymo in 2 years or less? Like you said WAYMO has a HUGE lead.
Posted on 6/23/25 at 6:22 pm to 13SaintTiger
the vision is, in time, as the service improves and expands, you will not want to own a car. The cars will know all the busiest places and will stage in those areas at the right times. You can schedule a ride as well. (Seats 4 comfortably) They will probably have a reduced rate to share a ride.
Id imagine if you live out in the sticks, you will need a car for some time.

My Tesla drives me pretty much everywhere now. I haven’t had to actively drive my vehicle most of this year.

Roll-out. Safety measures to significantly reduce the chance of ANY issues at all so municipalities will approve expansion. Tesla can and does all that for me right now. But continue being obtuse

No. They are interested in adding other autonomous vehicles to the uber ecosystem, such as Waymo.
Tesla is vertically integrated, which significantly reduces the cost to employ the service while also speeding up profitability outlook while being cheaper for the consumer. They don’t need Uber. Uber should be worried. Waymo is a non-factor. They will never be able to reduce their costs and scale enough to turn a profit.
ETA: to ask isn’t a ride hailing company working on self-driving cars really trivializes how hard self-driving is. Tesla’s self-driving technology compared to everything else out there is, with no hyperbole, incomparable. It’s like comparing the NFL to JUCO.

My Tesla drives itself in the rain better than you drive during the day. I’m sorry you are technologically illiterate.

I'd take that bet. I set a calendar reminder to check in this thread every six months for the next two years.
I have a family member that is legally blind and can't drive. I'm hoping they both continue to expand safely and it's eventually rolled out to the entire country. It would be a game changer for so many people but I believe Waymo has too far a head start for someone to catch up that quickly.

Did you not read the article?
Saw a video today from a dude in Austin who saw it both speed and drive in the wrong lane (and get honked at).

When people say shite like this, you can tell they’re ate up with the EDS. Breaking into the auto industry, which is nearly impossible to do, with the leader in FSD and all technology is extremely impressive. All while dusting the competition of hundreds of year old companies and creating the best selling car in the country.

Your extreme left wing ideology blinds you from any reality, and that’s why you’re extremely emotionally driven. You don’t understand facts nor do you have any experience. You just parrot talking points.
I’ve had my Tesla on FSD drive in rain that I couldn’t handle. It will slow down and limit the speed. Try not listening to only MSNBC and you won’t be a crazy person anymore.
