You still don't get it

Tesla received a half a billion to get started, 7500 per sale, et al

How is that fair to Ford, in the state of Texas? They didn't take a dime off the govt, and now have to compete against an out of state company that was totally funded by that same govt

Tesla wouldn't exist in any state if they had to be funded the way Henry Ford did it. Brick and mortar in every state would bankrupt them

Again, you deride Tesla for receiving a half a billion dollar LOAN, while Ford received $5.9BILLION under the same god damned program designed to improve fuel efficiency. How dense are you?

So each manufacturer has their own network of stations? Seems like a horrible idea.

meh...it won't be hard to retrofit either the station or the plug on the car to go to a "standard" situation that all cars could use.

I watched a ton of the Tesla shareholders meeting and then most of the 28 minute video that explains the Model S and its features.

I wanted to buy one by the end. In 3 years, if the supercharging stations are indeed implemented as planned, then this will be a no brainer for me. The Model S will be getting a small revamp in year 3 or 4 and the infrastructure to support it will be in place and ever expanding.

The base price is steep -- 60k+. When I built the one I would want it was starting to push the 100k barrer (but this was like creating a dream car). If they can cut on the price just a bit and keep right around 55-60k, then this could be my next car. The fact that the charging cost is included in the price of the car is terrific. The warranty for 8 years as well is a strong selling point. 8 years with no gasoline costs could be 20k (ballpark, I haven't run any numbers) which brings the total cost of ownership into a very competitive place when compared to 40k cars. Actually, the Model S kicks those cars asses in terms of user experience.

The value is there -- glad I woke up to check it out. Continue improving the battery and the charging stations and I am game.

Im really tempted to sell my first put on tesla for december expiration. I've read tons about selling puts and know the pros and cons

The December 21 $35/$40 puts seem like no brainers, I mean what on earth would be a driver to cause this company to shed 60% of its value in the next 6 months while its continuing to grow.

I ordered one a month ago, there's a 3 month wait to build time, I don't really see anything in the next 6 months to derail the tesla. I mean mercedes is releasing an all new S class in september but I don't really see anything else in the high end sedan market slowing down in that short of a time frame

Anyone else?

Good luck to these dinosaurs. Teslas are selling like hot cakes. Saw no less than a dozen pop up at work after which the company installed 4 charging stations. Great to see the innovation and change.

I figured once Texas made it illegal, all the other states would quickly do the same

It won't last long. Especially after fedgov has given it subsidies.

To think that certain states can ban tesla forever is not reality in the least.
