Will you have accounting hours?
CIA is easier and opens more doors than it should.
CISA is important for IT audit side

People with ISDS and Accounting knowledge will be paid to make it obosolete. They will get paid well. Also from audit perspective there will still be how do we machine is right. iT-Accounting Education is well positioned

my only concern would be boredom. make sure you love this stuff before you make yourself miserable doing something you hate

In IT they are all hot so few lol.
In a corporate setting HR people will due to hire you to have diversity. In typical male.dominated function

I've done research and work with companies that are doing the AI work to automate some of the accounting functions that could be taken over by automation. We're quite a bit a way in eliminating the most simplistic accounting functions that offers a real solution to eliminating accounting clerical jobs. We're no where near eliminating thought provoking accounting positions from my experience.

I work at a fortune 200 company and our reliance on what I can do in excel is mind blowing

Not what I meant. Large firms are severely lacking in diversity, and making sure there are more women is a priority.

I'll 150 hours bc I'm switching majors. My other credit hours are nursing prereqs.

I think I can find my niche with ISDS, maybe not the acct side of it. Most exciting thing to do with ISDS in your opinion?

Just joking around, but it is good to know they look for diversity!

the parts of my job I love involve heavily working with a business unit to align tools, process, and people for efficiency. I do a lot of our solutioning on the platforms we sell and use.
parts I find boring: system admin work, googling sys configs for people, meetings where no one understands what decisions even need to be made
if you want to get ahead your focus should be on how do I automate everything I do. every year i get a position change because something I did last year I automate.

This is what we deseperately need from our IT business partners
They bridge what I tell them as a business need and translate it to IT for programmers. It is almost like project manager

yeah it's not an easy skillset to build and IBM employs most of the best in industry at it.
my belief is that I have to understand the business need fully in order to give you what you need not just what you want.
most of the time people say they want a field or some small change without understanding everything that needs to be considered to really help from reporting, automation, and implementation standpoint. it's very similar skillset to an actual architect with different technical knowledge requirements.

I got an ISDS degree from LSU but had no desire to work with computers after I graduated. Make sure you want to sit behind a desk for hours on end and work with people that lack interpersonal skills.
A degree in Internal Audit from LSU would afford you many more opportunities...and the CIA program offers many internship opportunities.
Another thing to consider is Info. Systems degrees are not as nearly desirable as Computer Science degrees. Not even close.

And the IA prog wouldn't get me the same thing?
And if you dont mind me asking what did you end up doing instead? Did you use your ISDS degree at all?
Thank you!

We've hired three clearly under qualified people in the last year in the name of diversity. I'm far from anto diversity, but two were interns who clearly had near 0 accounting knowledge and we gave them offers anyway.

I didn't use my ISDS major. It did prepare me for the jobs I've had in the past 18 years, but I'm a people person and enjoy being out and about. IA requires a lot of screen time but it also involes personal interaction and different levels of complex investigation....depending on the industry you choose.
I've worked several different business fields in the last 18 years and have had success in all if them. Some of that may be attributed to what I learned getting my ISDS degree but I think the DS part has been most beneficial.
I know nothing about but I would advise you to pursue a degree that will allow you to get experience straight out of college and then branch off from a few years later in case you get burnt out. IS degrees are a dime a dozen. If you love computers and its a passion then comp science is the only way to go. The CIA program had an amazing rep when I was at LSU and likely does now. If you can get in do it.
Best of luck and study hard...you can play later.

Have you considered ISDS with a concentration in Healthcare?
