If true, that's pretty bad. $800M out of BR? Phew.

The people asking about buying RE in BR right now should factor this info into their thinking.

This guy knows what he talking about so I believe him, BTW, he specifically said $100M out of River Ranch and $800M out of BR as a whole.

I'm still skeptical, but devastating if true.

I'm wondering if all this might make a trip to Antigua cheaper. I'm in the midst of planning a honeymoon right now...hmmmm

I don't believe him. No way there is that much BR money in it. There's a lot but not 800 million.

Edit: Nevermind. It is possible....at least 25 FAs in BR and the books are prob 50-600 million each. Yikes.

I don't know. There are more LA people involved in this than you would think at first. I've already heard of one case for $4M in Shreveport. Multiply that times a couple thousand people and it might not be too hard to come to that amount.

I know that there is a lot of LA money because to main douchebags in this operation were from here. They had a solid network of clients from working at Merrill.

I have heard a few names of BR people that have been burned...one in the realm of $400,000 the other over $14 mill. These are just rumors right now anyway.

Why does B.R. always end up with this kind of publicity? Snipers, serial killers, and now a international ponzi scheme sprinkled with a dash of drug money laundering. It's time for someone local to step up and cure cancer or develop an unlimited clean energy source.

And here's how this shite works:

quote:

Stanford has been a major political player in the U.S. as well, where some congressmen announced they would donate his campaign contributions to charity.

The U.S.-based Stanford Financial Group, through its political-action committee and employees, has contributed $2.4 million to political candidates, parties and committees in the U.S. since 1989, with nearly two-thirds going to Democrats, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, which tracks campaign spending.

Most of that cash flowed during the 2002 election, when Congress was debating a financial-services antifraud bill that would have linked the databases of state and federal banking, securities and insurance regulators.

The bill ultimately died in the Senate, where the biggest recipients have been Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla. ($45,900); Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. ($28,150); Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn. ($27,500); and Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas ($19,700). Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Texas, also received $41,375.

Just don't find that a red cent went to Obama or there will be a raging herd calling for his resignation in 5 seconds.

The Center for Responsive Politics has come out with an insightful list, disclosing Stanford's campaign contributions which shockingly demonstrates that R. Allen Stanford was president Obama's third largest donor.

Many people have a hard time believing that these kinds of things are not unique to either party. This example is no different. Plenty of names from both sides of the aisle. With Madoff and now this it makes you wonder how many more of these people are out there.
