Up 45% 1Y, is this normal for a utility stock

Well in nearly 35 years sonde its been listed, Southern has an annualized return of 13.29%, and the Vanguard Utilities ETF (and corresponding mutual fund) has an average return since 2004 of about 10.50%.

This stock is dependent of the completion of plant Vogtle. So far it’s on schedule but any hiccups and this stock will take a tumble.

SO is very well positioned in a growing region and is greatly benefiting from low gas prices and I do not expect that to change anytime soon.
