Holding a decent amount of MGM since Covid crash. Should I sell it today? Guy is offering 48.3 and it's over 50

Could tank or it could go some more but the old saying comes to mind currently "No one ever lost money taking a profit." Or you could sell half now and save the rest.

The offer from Barry Diller’s company is $48.30 in all cash. The reason it’s over $50 is the market thinks either he’ll have to raise his offer or someone else comes in with a higher offer. $48.30 should be your floor assuming nothing crazy happens.

what? Why wouldn’t you just sell it at market price? What guy?

NM I see the post above mine now.
I was in a similar position with CFLT a while back, as long as the stock price held at the offer or above I waited until the tax lot situation was in my favor.

Is it bad that I’ve owned Amazon for about a decade and had no idea they owned MGM?

They don't own this MGM…they own the studio company, which is quite different.

Ah, well excuse my ignorance. I don’t follow the entertainment industry too closely

Crazy that Caesars sells and now MGM may sell, all within a couple of weeks of each other. You're talking about a combined 30 properties on the strip alone. I guess the writing has been on the wall for a while with how bad tourism has been and the shift in Vegas.

I bought 300 shares in March 2020 for an average of $8.25

Of course, "I wish I bought more" but I'm pretty happy with nearly 500% upside. I bought a lot of travel stocks and RCL is my biggest winner of those. Looks like yesterday was a down day for MGM, had no clue about the offer, so thanks for this thread as I'll pay attention now.
