Self-acquired HDHP-HSA?

Im in an employer sponsored plan now but making an employer change, new doesn't have HDHP+HSA.
Can a schmuck like me shop for one on open market or do they have to be sponsored?

Yes I thought it was odd too, huge corporation, but only traditional small deductible high premium health plans with useless flex options.

Some of what I read was you cant buy it if your employer offers a plan. The exchange is only for people with no other options.... true or false?

You’d be better off calling each carrier you want a quote from. I don’t think health carriers are paying commissions to agents for individual health plans so they have no incentive to find the best for you. All carriers care about are employer group plans.

Shop all you want...but you will find employer based plans will blow away anything you purchase in the individual market(aka Obamacare exchange). Obamacare destroyed the non employer based HDHP market.
