The left isn’t all woke idiots. Is Bill Maher woke? Chapelle? Burr? Obama (he called out Dems for the woke idiocy)?

I try not to get sucked in by stupid cultural issues. They don’t impact my life one iota.

Very fair and you share that sentiment with a lot of Americans. Hell, I agree with you in many respects.

But do you see the problem with bitching about unelected administrative state while rooting on an unelected dude to have his way with the government?

Maybe not, but they pretty much vote all woke. The party of Clinton and JFK is dead.

This is what I was getting at. If you meet a guy who is even vaguely conventional in 2025, you can about bet the farm that they’re not going to tell you about their evening watching Rachel Maddow. .

So is Reagan’s GOP.

I fricking hate politics right now.

I know from reading your posts we’re about the same age. When we were coming up, up until about age 20-25, politics was about actual policy. There were nuanced conversations and compromise. Because of a combination of social media and cable news, politics became entertainment. It became a game. Red vs blue! You’re gay! You’re a fascist!

Like, seriously, what the frick are we doing? It’s all outrage outrage outrage every minute of every day. It’s why I quit all social media.

It’s a fricking travesty. Those days of actual governance seem so far in the past.

I don't really have any of it either. TD and LinkedIn. I probably agree with someone like Thomas Massie the most these days. I'm a Ron Paul conservatarian essentially.

I voted for Ron in a primary….2008 maybe? He was an early blogger and I loved reading his stuff in the early 2000s. Rand, on the other hand??? Yeah….

I’m telling you, if the regular posters of TD sat down for beers, 75% of us would largely agree on a large number of topics. It’s different in person when you actually have to be accountable for the things you say.

100% true as well. I’m not particularly anti-Trump but he’s not even vaguely conservative. IMO he’s essentially his own political party. The GOP has more talent to pivot to in the post-Trump era though. The Dems don’t have anything to sell any more. They were always the savvier political operatives and that’s just not the case anymore.

This idiotic nonsense. The President and VP are the only elected part of the executive branch.

Were Garland and Majorkas elected? Blinken? Cheney, Rumsfeld, Kissinger? None were elected.

Don't spout off about people parroting political talking points and then do exactly that. "UNELECTED!" You're not even trying at that point.

How about we secure OUR borders. It's inflow, not outflow that is being complained about.

This is my take as well.

I am OK with new contributions going in exactly as they have been. Some could consider moving part of existing funds if they are convinced we will drop significantly from where we are,but most should just ride it out. The only thing that is certain is that we are in uncertain times for investing.

With my daily savings due to inflation continuing to drop, I will just invest and save more. Something I couldn't do under Biden.

I'm loving right now.

If you're 25-30 years from retirement. What else are you buying besides VOO VTI right now during this dip?

Trying to decide if this will trickle to the real estate market and hold the cash for that.
