I brought my bike, but the closest park with a reasonable biking area is 20-25 minutes away, and I don't get home until 730-8 at the earliest, and I'm certainly not getting up at 5 every day either, so that pretty much limits my biking to Saturdays and Sundays. There is a track not 500 feet from my apartment that I've been running on, and I've been running intermittently since the CFA, I'm just trying to add something a little different. I actually don't completely agree with the physical/mental thing, although I know that is pretty much conventional wisdom. For me to really capture that, I need complete lifestyle change, effectively literally nothing but working out and going to work, and that's just not going to happen, because I don't want to hate my life. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Yeah. For me, there is definitely a difference. I'm a runner and I have zero doubt whatsoever that I work better due to my active lifestyle. Nothing clears my head like a long run. Sweating profusely also rids your body of toxins, etc., that could hinder brain function. Running is like a reset button for my brain.
Also, if you're on iPhone, download RunKeeper and MyFitnessPal. I use both to properly diet/exercise and find them very useful.

Work doesn't have a gym you can use during the day?

Gotta get up at 4am and knock that shite out.

I'm not saying exercise isn't better than no exercise or anything, I'm just saying that I only have so much energy, so I can only do so much exercise before the physical energy output bleeds into the mental energy reserve. I mean when I run in the morning, I'm definitely more focused when I'm at work, but I also hit a wall at like 4 or 5 and get tired, so I just personally find that I need to balance them. I can't run 4 miles a day and then focus for 12 hours until 8 or 9 PM. If you can,
. I haven't really gone out late at all since I've moved to Houston, so maybe without that extra energy output on the weekends, I can keep the other stuff streamlined and accomplish both, who knows.
I use CardioTrainer (Android). It has an add-on for dietary stuff, but I've never found those very useful. I cook a lot of my own food, so I find it really difficult to fit the meals within the parameters of the program. I know what I'm supposed to eat/drink and how much, that's not the problem. I'm pretty sure if I just cut back on drinking, which is happening on its own by virtue of not being in nola, the diet side will solve itself. Athanatos, I think there's a gym in the tunnels, but I'm not really in a position to be taking hour long breaks at lunch to go exercise. Maybe if they give me a full time offer.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Is that just semis or everything? Even general economic stuff?
Posted on 7/31/11 at 6:35 pm to kfizzle85
I run 30 or so miles a week and bike maybe 20. I have more energy than if I didn't do those things. And a lot of those are 4am mornings. I can also function off less sleep when I exercise regularly (which I know sounds weird).

Well, technically I'm not supposed to talk about anything without making the necessary disclosures. But I'm also a lawyer so I'm held to a higher standard. I can still talk in private, but I'd be uncomfortable doing much on a public forum like this. And I'm actually not covering semis (data storage for the most part).

That's pretty nice.
I love 4am. I like knowing I'm one of the first people around awake.

frick that noise. If I'm up at 4am, it's because I haven't left the office yet.

That's really all I'm getting at. I would love to be able to get up at 5 and run 5 miles every day, but there's no way I'd make it till 9 every night like that. So, back to the original point about Insanity, I can do it in my apartment for 35 minutes when I get up or when I get home, so I can fit into my schedule as need be. I need light for running/biking, I'm not doing that shite at night and risking getting smoked by a F 350.

Sounds like the lawyer/accountant "this is not tax advice" spiel. I understand your position, I feel like its okay on here as long as its generic, very non-specific (eg you think consumer spending is going to continue going up because of x) and your POV as opposed to the firm's POV, but clearly that's all a judgment call on your part. Your contributions will be missed. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcheers.gif)

Appreciate it. I'll still shoot the shite around here for sure. Just gonna play it safe until I know the ropes.

I'm the same way and everyone thinks I'm crazy for it. I can sleep 4 hours, get a few miles in and work all day, but if I sleep more than 8 hours and don't work out I'm pretty much rendered useless. I start my job Aug 8 so hopefully I will be able to keep up a good workout routine and have that mind/body synchronization type shite still going on.
