Prepaid card for cash

Currently have about 5k in cash in our safe and would like to use that cash for things for our new house we just built but I don't want the wife walking around with that much cash. My question is what is the best option I have to put that cash on some type of card that she can use for purchases?

I’m not sure the real reason why you won’t put a bunch of cash in a bank..... 
but I know the Walmart money card and possibly other prepaid cards have a limit of $3k that can be on the card at any time.
