This isn't looking good for me.

This was a little more prescient on my part, though.

In that case, I'd say the exchange rate on MtGox is actually $0.

Congratulations, Mister Contest Winner.

Do you think Wiki will insist the last trade on MtGGOX was at $135.00?

I would like to reiterate my quote here. I'll punch out and watch.

Thats one of the most overly simplified "year in reviews" i've ever seen outside of a tombstone.

2014 Year in Review

Bitcoin began 2014 valued at approximately $815.00 on MtGox*.

Bitcoin ended 2014 valued at approximately ZERO on MtGox.

I bought rupees today. I'm thinking about the rand as well. If the dinar ever hits, I'm worth $35MM. USD. Not sure how many bitty coins that adds up to, but I'ma guessing a lot of em.

Does everyone on this forum just intentionally ignore this:

When asked if he believes Mt Gox will exist at the end of 2014:

probably not. we may have to do some kind of average based on exchange volume to get the most accurate price

It's possible that we see a huge spike in price. The surge in October happened after "bitcoin was dealt a blow" when the Silk Road was taken down. Similar circumstances.

In April of last year when Gox had problems and halted trading the price dropped from the mid $200s to $60 within hours of reinitializing trading. This time around the price drop was from the mid-$500s to $400. The resiliency of the price against bad (really bad) news is a lot more than it used to be and that definitely inspires confidence in the price.

When I read the internal memo last night I certainly wasn't thinking we'd be anywhere near $600 less than 24 hours later.

I doubt those were arms length transactions. More likely insiders manipulating the market.
