Trinket: anything that you can live your day to day without indefinitely...and still be alive and healthy

So...time to furlough some port workers?

The same folks who were basically holding the country hostage during contract time.

Sounds good.

Good point, while we are at it, what did tractors fix? Let's go back to sickles. What did computers fix? Let's go back to paper drafting and typewriters and calculators

I know you’re joking, but I’d have no problem if we banned all computer advancements after Dec 31,1999.

I have no problem with automation or technological advancements. My point is that the free market should advance those things.

My reply was to a post that was basically touting dictatorships and bashing unions. I’m not saying that unions don’t come with their own set of problems. But I believe in people having rights, a free market and not a supreme leader that dictates things to workers.

Yes. Someone else will create a cheaper or more efficient way to do it and people will move to that business.

That’s how free enterprise works. Labor has always been part of the equation.

If you have two restaurants and one pays its employees more than the other, that business either has to have higher prices or less earnings. Maybe it has better food and better service so it does well. Maybe it doesn’t. But people can choose to eat there or not. Maybe they have higher supply cost because they buy better quality food. Same thing apply there. If someone creates an oven that eliminates a job and the other business is able to charge less prices, then they have an advantage. That’s free enterprise.

Chyna went through some growing pains before they enjoyed the benefits of the union-free automation.

It's like people forget that China is a command economy.

Essentially, all labor in China is unionized - and the union bosses are the ones who run the country.
