Navarro is just trying to promote the Trump nonsense. There is no way that poor countries can import as much as we import from them.

This is going to go down as one of the biggest mistakes in U.S. political history.

I would counter with all those things mentioned were bad outcomes of good intentions.
This is a deliberate attack on the economy for non-specified reasons. Has any president ever deliberately crashed the stock market before now?

You may disagree with my view on tariffs, but we actually agree on what you are quoting. My whole point was to not hold your breath that Trump would come out and say this was just about reciprocal tariffs. That isn't what it is about, so I would expect Trump to come out in agreement with Navarro, not come out and "back Navarro down".

Vietnam is bad about this. They did it to the U.S. catfish industry. The Vietnamese govt subsidized their industry and they flooded our market with below market price fish in order to gain a large market share.

So why not put tariffs on catfish and shrimp not the whole country.

0% would be plenty and perfect for items built and assembled in Vietnam. If it is produced 99% of the way in China and effectively shipped through Vietnan to contribute or facilitate some small insignificant portion, then NO, it would get charged at China's rate.
