Ok, the way this thread was going I thought you were going to say some random field.
No chance, my friend. I am sick of school

Just as usual, don't get bent over on tuition.
Georgetown would be the exception

Tax
I wouldn't go anywhere outside NYU, UF, or Georgetown. All others are too expensive for the mediocre job prospects in that field (in fact, Georgetown can be excluded from that list if you don't want to do govt. work).
Honestly, if it were me, I'd save the money and apply to firms with tax and/or M&A (also a ton of tax) groups and just explain your interest in the area. Targeted networking with tax attorneys will also help open doors. The LLM is definitely not required.

Their tuition would make OT Ballers blush.
I was a longtime legacy through my mom's side. I was "too privileged" to receive significant FinAid but too broke to afford the student loans without selling my kidneys. I don't think I ever saw my grandfather so disappointed as when I told him I am choosing a full ride over going to GTown.

But he wasn't motivated to open his wallet and ease your way, so why was he disappointed? I don't get the whole 'legacy' thing. Shouldn't each kid get to choose the best place without undue pressure to confirm to the previous generation's choices?

He would have helped a good bit along with my parents but I refused. I chose a full ride because it wsa the smart thing to do.
I grew up talking Georgetown basketball with him and loved being a Hoya fan with him and the family. He had a great experience at GTown undergrad+med and eventually was dean of a school there. It was something he bonded with his grandson over and he was afraid he'd lose that.

The only people I know who get LLMs do it in Tax or Admiralty. But perhaps there are other fields
why on earth would you get an LLM in admiralty? seems like a waste of money, plus the time would be better spent in practice. would this be beneficial in academia? that's the only way I can see this being worthwhile.

I didn't say it was smart

Appreciate the offer, but it's for LLM admissions. Should have made the title a little better.
