yes, with the way the market is set up to trade BTC/ETH are paired, so much volume runs between those two.
and this is also why BTC has such a huge advantage because nearly all the alt coins go through it.
in time, ETH will decouple from BTC (hopefully); the more advanced coin should prevail

frick if I was smart I'd keep my main stash and tuck it away. And then buy like $2k or so worth and keep buying low selling high everyday.
Could make nice little $500 profits most days.

BTC is the driver b/c it's had a huge gain over the past year or 2 plus a time period of use/discussion for 4-5 years now
ETH got some play over the past couple weeks b/c it doubled and people got in and out but now that it's stabilized a bit, i think the main speculation $ is gone. so i don't think it will decouple anytime soon until it creates its own market. that may take a year or 2

I know I know. I'm trying to secure a main stash I don't touch. Almost all of it wasn't bought >$80. I'm leaving that alone hoping it goes into the $1000s.
Now might be the time to start playing in smaller trades like you're talking about. Problem is I've got to be able to buy immediately and sell immediately. I won't get this last Coinbase purchase til fricking June 2.
