One thing everyone should keep in mind when comparing ETH price to BTC -- There are about 16 million BTC in circulation; ETH has about 92 million coins circulating.

I went to create a coinbase account and got a message that they suspended their business in Hawaii
I finally say I'm gonna buy some crypto and I can't. Any other way that's easy and trusted to join and buy?

I don't have any personal experience with them, but Kraken and Poloneix get mentioned a lot on here too

also who knows what will happen with trump and any more economic uncertainty; we could really skyrocket if we enter into any type of recession

after reading up on the tech it sounds like it has potential to be great. it's not limited like BTC is and with tech-type investing, the sky is literally the limit. i'll sit and hold for a few months and see what's happening
The tech is stupefying. I really think it's a great play to go long on

I don't think Ethereum's supply is capped either, like Bitcoin's systematically is.

Ethereum is going to move to a proof of stake system, is my understanding.

These are two completely different things. Ethereum has been trying to get from PoW to PoS pretty much from their start, and it's always been "2 years away".
The token supply schedule is determined independently of the mechanism of consensus.

Can somebody explain what happened to WikiTiger?

Moving to PoS is essential if Ethereum is going to be THE system that dApps use to top build. PoS is far superior to PoW, and I feel that is a widely held opinion. PoS is the plan for them they say. It will require another hard fork so I think they are being extra diligent while determining how to best make this move.
The issue I see with the hard forks is where will it end? They've already had one, and at least one other is on the horizon. I feel like another company could easily come along with a clean cut version of their tech and surpass them with no hard or soft forks at all.
None of this will happen anytime soon, but these are LONG term investment plays as the hard technology doesn't even exist yet (and may not ever) to make the vast majority of these cryptocurrencies viable on a global scale.

Please help a novice with wallets. I have a small amount of ETH that I bought (and have left) in Coinbase, I've decided I'm done buying and plan to hold for the long term so don't plan to buy or sell any time soon.
I keep seeing you need to move your ETH holdings to a wallet but as someone who just got into this game like 2 weeks ago it's a bit overwhelming. Hardware wallets, paper wallets, cold wallets, etc. I've read a bit about myetherwallet and the ledger nano S but man all of it seems so confusing. What is the absolute easiest one to get as a total beginner and someone with not a whole lot of eth? I'm also a bit confused about the storage aspect of it. Like with myetherwallet it looks like you just type in a password and it generates I guess what you'd call a "wallet address" that you print or write out and store away for safe keeping. So does that mean I go on coinbase and send all my ETH to that address? Well then where does it go? If it's not being stored on coinbase anymore where are they being held? And years down the road when I am ready to sell, how do I access it again to cash out?
Sorry for the dumb questions, I just don't want the little eth I do have to vanish, either by coinbase malfunction or my own issues with trying ot transfer to storage.

The Nano Ledger is pretty damn easy to use. It's what I have.
Edit: my ETH are stored on my Nano. I have to transfer from Coinbase to the Nano (either by address or QR code). If I want to sell, I have to transfer them back to a place like Coinbase and sell them. Or another exchange.

Advocated for bitcoin and Invested in it when it was cents on the dollar. When it surged the fricker disappeared, never to be heard from again. It's an on-going joke that the guy moved and is living the high life right now

Sorry about that 140s scare yesterday guys. I had rolled my retirement into there in the 93 range a few days ago. Pulled out at 181 yesterday afternoon. Just cut my retirement age by 6 years.
