Is mining automated? Do you actually have to sit in front of the PC and manually do stuff or is it a matter of building a computer and "clicking go"?

Building computer, downloading a mining software and clicking go. I don't do but I've watched several youtube videos on it. If I had a good graphics card I'd probably try to set it up. Electricity cost are your biggest concern but there are formulas out there to help you calculate what you would be looking at before you even start.

I wonder how taxing and/or hard it would be to mine like 5-10 a day.

LINK

Karl Denninger is a pretty sharp analyst. Runs Market Ticker blog, seen him on CNBC, Bloomberg TV, etc.. He says digital coins are a ponzi scheme. I dont know enough to determine his analysis, but I know there are savvy investors in this thread... What say you?

One or more of these cryptos will make it and have mass viability.

Until then who knows. Some may fall into the bogus category but there's no way he can prove that.

I really need to get used to doing BTC to USD conversions in my head. I didn't realize how little bitcoin was in my exchange wallet when I went to throw everything I had at CANN yesterday. Check just now to see it has gone up 620% and I only had $1 and some change on it

Pretty much. You're mining program needs to be setup and connected to the interwebz.

Essentially this. You'll need an expensive stand alone type graphics card. Think like 4-500 bucks, a psu to power it, then whatever gpu mining program set to the proper parameters to connect to the mining pool. From here it basically drives itself. I normally checked my stuff once a day, but i had an alert that went off after 15 minutes of dead time. Annoying af to wake up to at 3 am.

Haven't checked in on this thread in like 3 weeks... hope some of y'all baws is rich now. A lot of people i used to mine and trade with have become pretty well off the last few months.

I feel like I'm out of touch now. Are there new currencies being created regularly?

Ive been following this thread for a month or so now. I tried to create a coinbase account but it wont let me add a new payment method. I keep getting a too many failed attempts, try again in 24 hours. That happened immediately after I created the account and is still happening even after waiting a few days. Says this when I try the bank account or the credit card route. Not having any luck on with their support links, it just keeps sending me to FAQ stuff. Anybody else having trouble getting in the game? Maybe this is a sign that Im not techy enough to play this ballgame. lol

I would imagine most are. I'm sure there is a lot of vaporware around, but on the other hand, there are some that sell out so quickly you sometimes wonder that they may really have some good tech behind it. The trouble is most of us aren't smart enough to understand it all
