Did we close above the 200? I'm on the road and don't have tradingview handy.

No but we did bounce twice off of sub 100k. That gives me some hope.
If we can pull above 106k and sustain after bouncing like that, we may be alright. That means buyers aren’t giving up and sellers are getting exhausted.

The whales have to run out of BTC and stop dumping at some point. They are responsible.

Good read here:

Bitcoin continues to trade above its 200-week exponential moving average (EMA), currently near $100,950, a key long-term support that has defined every major correction since late 2023. Each time BTC has tested this level following strong rallies, it has rebounded sharply to set new highs, confirming the EMA as the market’s structural floor, as shown below.

Hayes warned that many traders may misread this stagnation as the market top, just as the four-year cycle anniversary of Bitcoin’s 2021 all-time high approaches. But he argued that the underlying dollar plumbing suggests otherwise: once spending resumes and liquidity returns, it will mark the next leg higher. “The system only has two modes,” Hayes writes, “print money or destroy money. Right now, it’s the latter—but not for long.”

Decent action today. If I were on team 4-year cycle, I might have sold some yesterday to lock in gains, but I'm pretty anti-cycle at this point, so I'm okay with the dips and chops. I'm still hodling and dcaing.

If we make it another month or two without being completely gutted, the diamond hands are going to be back on offense bigly just as the fed taps out. It could be such a violent rally.

You are correct. Holding the EMA here after bouncing off 99k, twice, with such high volume?
Huge. I’m watching the weekly closes through November.
Basically, if we get a strong rebound within the next month or two, the 4 year cycle as we knew it is dead. Whether there is still any type of “cycle” will remain to be seen.

I’m on both sides. I think the 4 yr cycle is done but there will still be some kind of “alt” cycle after BTC heats up too much.
You can kind of see it being set up in the charts right now. I haven’t locked in any profits since BTC hit >120k in July. The price action of both BTC and alts is suggestive that we aren’t done yet…..but anything can happen.
I’d probably have less fortitude if I was actually in the red, but I didn’t drop 5 figures at the bottom of last cycle just to make 5 figures. May as well hold.

It’s still early but Saylor’s new preferred stock (STRC) could be a bigger deal than we think. Volume has actually increased the last couple of weeks as it has approached its peg. MSTR receiving a credit rating also increased the size of the capital pool that is allowed to buy those shares. Again, it’s early but the ramifications of that working would be pretty wild.

Let’s see if the bears find sustained five figure selling. Maybe the year we’ve spent fighting over 100k could help us out here.

Weekly close was good. Hope we have at least one more big run in us.

I know this thread is primarily geared towards Bitcoin, but what is everyone’s thoughts on ETH and XRP, especially long term?
The end goal is for digital currency to be the primary method to conduct trade over sovereign fiat paper money, right? And it would appear inefficient to conduct this trade using several different coins. So does BTC win the long game?’ For metals, it’s mostly gold and a little silver. So what’s the analog in the digital space, if any? Does XRP or ETH or Sol have a place at the table aside from speculation?

When talking about smart contract layer 1's, no, that is not the end goal. Just taking Ethereum as the example, Ether is the token used to transact on the Ethereum network. Can it be used as a currency? Sure, just as anything can be used as currency between two people. Is that the primary goal? No.
It is not trying to replace the dollar or BTC or anything else. That's what BTC maxis fail to grasp.

Whatever it takes to get me out of my volatility long. McRibs work as well as anything else right now.

Bitcoin has one of the ugliest charts I've ever seen. No uniformity.

Support around 92-95. This really needs to hold or it’s going to be a sad time.
I figured we would get a liquidity sweep to 94kish once we held below 100k, so this doesn’t surprise me, but we need to find a floor soon.
I’ll add that the retraction sort of makes sense, market sentiment notwithstanding.
There was a huge run up Nov-Dec last year after the election. People who bought then are getting into the long-term capital gains tax period and probably want to lock in profits.
