I guess that's good for my ETH and SOL bags. He at least understands the benefits and utilities of smart contracts and isn't just focused on BTC. He gets the whole breadth of the crypto world. He's a sharp guy.

On the flip side, he's still part of the Paypal Mafia, and they are all Big Tech, despite what they believe and say. Early Big Tech, but still Big Tech. All of those guys survived the dot-com crash and went on to form and invest in major Web 2.0 companies. It makes me wonder how much they truly believe in decentralization, or if it's just lip-service to pump bags.

Cautiously optimistic.

I've drank the koolaid and it's delicious

I've stopped dabbling in DOGE and most other non-NCI gambles

my largest holding now it BTC and cash to buy dips, but also LINK, ETH and AVAX, all NCI darlings

when I started in this thread, I was the proverbial "first semester Freshman" and now I'm a "second semester Freshman" buying BTC and shotgunning a beer when I do

more noob questions:

if I've got $100K, I can buy 1 bitcoin. Got it. If I've got 1K I can buy 1 percent of a bitcoin. Got it.

You can do transactions without the middle man, which saves money and lowers prices conceivably. Got it.

So besides the money aspect, what is the other value of that one thousand dollars of bitcoin? Is there a sort of not well publicized value attached to it bitcoin having a finite cap? If I'm a poor boy with $3000 fraction of bitcoin, will that be "worth more" once the cap is hit? i.e.,like being in some exclusive "club" that bought in before the cap was hit?

Or is the cap always growing anyway?

I've seen shots in the dark saying Bitcoin will hit 200K by the end of 2025, and maybe 700K by the end of 2030. and..."Ark Invest CEO Cathie Wood has predicted Bitcoin will hit $1.48 million by 2030, Fortune reported."

I understand how stocks in Walmart or oil or whatever can certainly keep you up with inflation, I've been investing for 30 years.

I don't understand how some folks seem to be saying bitcoin will help you BEAT inflation. I do but I don't kind of thing... obviously I want my regular stocks beating inflation.

I believe them, I just don't understand it

Main thing every noob wants to ask but doesn't want to look like a dumbass asking it, is it too late for me to start getting into bitcoin now? I'm not risking my nest egg, so the growth will be slow.

Is it better for a noob to focus on ETH, AVAX and LINK?

If I'm just starting now, which I did, what's the advantage of putting monthly cash in bitcoin versus Walmart stock or oil or new medicines?

Bitcoin is the scarcest store of value on earth. If Walmart's stock price spikes, they can take advantage of it, issue new shares, and roll that capital into whatever initiative they want to push. That might be good as a long term investor but it puts a cap on price.

That mechanism simply doesn't exist with Bitcoin. If the price spikes from adoption, speculation and diminishing supply, the upwards pressure on the asset can only be moderated by sellers coming to the market. "Price is determined at the margin". What that basically means is that price can be irrational and explosive in both directions. With bitcoin that effect is amplified greatly. You can have supply shocks and with the advent of ETF options, you could have gamma squeezes unlike anything you see in the stock market.

I can't give you financial advise but every crypto with the exception Bitcoin is a fool's errand in the long run for the average investor. One or two might end up with some utility and gain value but there's no telling which ones, if any that will be. I should say I don't have an investment thesis on any of them but I don't think they compete in the same arena as bitcoin as a store of value. I would consider them projects or investments for people that have a very specific knowledge of their potential applications in the future.

It's absolutely not too late to invest in bitcoin. Its market cap is just under $2T right now. Gold has a market cap of close to $20T and it's a dinosaur of an asset. Honestly, it’s too EARLY for most major institutional investors. That feels like it’s on the verge of changing though.

You need to understand bitcoin before investing much or you WILL get scared when it dips. It's a baby of an asset class (thus the potential for massive gains) and it will be wildly volatile. Yesterday it traded between 92k and 104k. You need to know what it is or that will freak you out. Good luck.

Harry, attaining an elementary understanding of btc is a 100 hour time investment. This is due to not only to the intricacies of the btc code itself and what separates it from shitcoins but also because it requires a base understanding of money, monetary theory and the current fiat system.

beautiful answer my friend, thank you

I will certainly buy even more if it dips - I'm skimming tiny profits all the other ones periodically and buy those same small amounts of BTC instantly

really do appreciate it

You should know that we’re in a period known as “alt season”. You’ll see all of the other coins start running and many will likely outpace Bitcoin for a few months. This is a sugar high and will not last.

Just don’t want you to feel frustrated when you see them rip and you’re not in them. If you’re a gambler you might stay exposed to the ones you’re in for a little longer. I wouldn’t but I’ve already gone through my alt coin phase, got burned and said no more. You never know when the coins going parabolic right now will flame out in spectacular fashion. It’s a casino.

Wait until Wall St. And ETF money figures out what Ethereum can do. It's going to rocket for years.

By the looks of the ETF ETF inflows, they are starting to figure it out.

Me too. Got excited when I saw the email, but it's only .003btc. But I guess I should take whatever I can get at this point.
