Polo lagging big time and XRP crashing and no one can trade. Went from 24350 to 19500 in about 5 minutes.

Everything is crashing. What happened.. Did the Rothschilds put an end to this?

Just checking in here, and had no idea that TD was receptive to digital currencies. I've been on ETH since it was announced pre-launch. It's scary to see this become so mainstream.
Two quick points:
>Most people here seem to be brand new to digital currencies. It should be noted that nearly every currency is at an all-time high right now.
>Take the time to learn the fundamentals of what you're investing in. You'll see that cryptocurrency is still years away from being usable in the real world. Read a lot about the scalability issues to get a good grasp of the limitations of this technology (all block chains). A good starting point: Learn "Proof of Work" vs "Proof of Stake"
EDIT: I read through this entire thread, and a recurring question was "why should I not hold my currency on a third party website (Coinbase or Polo)?"
Any exchange can go down at any time, for any reason. It's happened in the past, and it'll surely happen again in the future. Also, you've gotta keep in mind that laws surrounding this stuff are fluid. If California outlaws BTC on a whim, then bam, Coinbase is out of business and you're out of luck. That's an extreme example just to prove the point that there is giant external risk.
It's relatively easy to set up a local wallet on your computer and transfer your currency from the exchange to your wallet.

You can transfer your ETH to Polo and use that to buy BTC there. Assuming Polo's not fricking up again..
It took about 15-20 minutes to hit my Polo wallet when I did this transfer earlier today.

Any recommendations for a wallet for Stellar (Lumens) and XRP?

Can somebody help me understand the Loan Demands section on the Lending tab of Poloniex?
I thought the top listing showed me someone who wanted to borrow .879 BTC (it was .823 BTC earlier) to pay back in 2 days with 5% interest.
I filled out the Offer BTC section at the top and clicked "Offer Loan". I thought I was lending the .823 BTC to them at 5%, but all that did was create an Open Loan Offer that's probably at the bottom of the Open Offer list. So, I don't know what I'm doing right here. What does the Loan Demands box represent?

GateHub is the popular one, but it's been having trouble lately. I don't follow Ripple as closely as others, so I'm not sure what the alternatives to GH are.

So I transferred 15 ETH to poliniex from coinbase and it took about 15 minutes. I transferred back to Coinbase and it's still awaiting approval after 2 days. Am I fricked?

Pulled out due to the uncertainty of shitty arse Poloniex.

Been over 48 hours now.. My ETH that i was transferring to coinbase is still "awaiting approval" opened a ticket on it to be looked into 24 hours ago and still haven't heard anything.

So last week I bought some btc on coinbase (not much at all) with the sole intention of transferring to poloniex and playing xrp. Well due to the time delay and me losing interest I don't wanna do that anymore and would rather just transfer that btc into ETH that I already have in coinbase. Problem is I can't figure out how the frick to do that. I thought there would be a simple "transfer" option but the only transfer I see is sending btc to another btc wallet. Do I have to do the painfully unnecessary step of selling that btc for usd back into my bank acct then buying the eth from there?

1.)Login and click on the Exchange tab on the top left.
2.)Click on the BTC tab on the right, under the Markets section. (I think it starts you off there by default).
3.)About halfway down the page, there's a section that says Buy ETH. This is where you change your BTC to ETH.
4.)It'll say "You have: xxxx BTC". Copy and paste that xxxx amount into the box 3rd box below that says Total _____ BTC. It will then calculate how many ETH you can buy (in the 2nd box) based on the current going rate that's already filled out in the 1st box.
5.)Click the Buy button.
ETA: shite-- These are instructions above are for doing it on Poloniex. I just noticed you may have wanted instructions for Coinbase.
If you're trying to do this in Coinbase:
1.)Login and click the Buy/Sell tab. Then click the Sell tab on that page.
2.)Under Sell From, click the dropdown and select your BTC Wallet.
3.)Under Deposit To, click the dropdown to select USD Wallet.
4.)Under the Amount section, click in the BTC box on the right, and click the Sell Max button. Then click the Sell Bitcoin button. This will convert all of your BTC to USD based on the current going rate. These USD funds will immediately be available for you to buy ETH as long as you chose USD Wallet in step 2.

This happened to me last week, and I also had to open a ticket. They fixed it for me and recommended that I turn on 2-Factor Authentication to prevent future delays. Email pasted below:
quote:
Thank you for getting in touch and apologies for the delay in responding. Please note that withdrawal approvals often take up to 24hours, typically they're cleared much sooner. Unfortunately this wasn't the case here but I can confirm that your withdrawal has been cancelled. There are many reasons why this can happen but so as to help avoid similar delays for future withdrawals then enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on your Poloniex account should help. Poloniex STRONGLY recommends enabling 2FA as soon as possible. Without 2FA, your funds and some private data are only as safe as your email credentials.
